The end of an era is getting near

I'll miss the sound of our V10's on the next gen M6.

As expected the folks at BMW won't talk about what the engine will be in the next generation M5 & M6.

When I mentioned to my contact lady that Board members consider the TT V-8 from the X5M and X6M to be a "truck engine" she was very surprised to hear that was the impression. She did say that people might want to reserve judgement on the motor until they have had a chance to drive it themselves. She assured me it is not just like the xDive50 in the normal X6 with more HP.

There are spy shots of the F-12 6 series (in camouflage) already posted. But the M version of the F-12 is not fixed. That means that they are still working on it. So it is not a fixed project as far and engineering is concerned. It will of of course be based on the F-12 6 series body. When I mentioned the future M6 at dinner tonight at dinner with my BMW contact, she said that no, I would not have seen an M6 prototype in any spy photos. A regular 6 series, yes, that was possible. But not an M6 prototype.

When I mentioned my guesses for various body/styling elements for the F-10 and F-12 5 series, she only smiled. But she did allow that the "design language" as seen in the new 750/760 will be seen in the upcoming 5 series cars. And yes, the F-11 would be the designation for the touring/wagon version of the 5 series.

She was surprised that the board members were so aware of the body series numbering. I guess she does not know how anal and geeky we all are.

New M6 body style?

Gosh I can only hope the new body style of the M6 is nowhere near the body style of the new 7 series.
I went to the new Seattle BMW Dealership open house 2 weeks ago and saw the new 7 series.

Take a look at the new 7 series photo below. What a hedious looking car, the front with the oversized kidney grille! OMG!

What a way to ruin a great car, BMW's flagship.

What were they thinking : (
