Screaming inside the Welt?

Somehow I don't think they want me to turn DSC off and light the tires up and drift on the "parade" lap around the other cars to the exit at the Welt

I'm sure they advise owners not to fart around, but it's fun to think about.

Actually, I don't want to abuse the engine since they usually have less than 10 miles on the odometer. I wonder what 5500 RPM sounds like inside the Welt?

Gustav better bring some M6Board.com stickers for the rear side windows! I wonder if BMW will film the stickers going on or not

5 days, 21 hours, 13 minutes until delivery (I have a countdown timer on a web page).

Then again, the 9th is 2 days away for you! Or is that Oct 2009?

No, take it easy at first and respect the break-in period. I know, it's hard not to put your foot down but it will be worth it afterwards. I'm sure you've read all about the break-in (and various opinions) on this board. I followed the rules and didn't regret it at all.

Unfortunately that is not the 9th but October 09. Having said that, I'm dealing with the Italians (not as organised as the Germans ). I'm still waiting for my dealer to tell me when we have green light to book our flights to Maranello.

Cheers,

M

Wow, that has to be an exciting delivery (at Maranello). How much driving will you be able to do or will you be driving it home (to wherever)?

BTW - either the Germans or BMWNA is not that organized either. I still have not signed for the car as they are "still working up the invoice" at BMWNA. They better get it done by Friday or we will all be in for a big surprise when there is no delivery at the Welt on Tuesday.

The plan is to drive her home from Maranello via Porto Fino, Monaco, St-Tropez up to Paris and onwards to its final home.

I'm sure the invoicing part of your baby will be taken care off by Friday. Would be very bad for BMW to delay delivery on such a special puppy.

Cheers,

M

That sounds like a decent trip! That will be an experience and memory for life!

Mark, I wouldn't worry about the invoice, i think (and hope for BMW's sake) that they have that under control, after all I think they might want to get paid Time goes by really slowly when you wait for something this much, but after all the waiting you have done so far these last few days should be over in a heart beat!

@Irish

Oahu. You probably know this, but just in case:

That is where Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor are located. The state capital is here also. Roughly 80% of the population of the state of Hawaii lives on Oahu. "Hawaii" island is invariably called "the Big Island" so as not to confuse the island with the state.

People often ask if I live on the "big" island / "main" island. So the answer is No and Yes. I live in a suburb in the geographic center of the island but work close to Pearl Harbor.

So close and so far away

My contact at BMW-M (the nice lady I've been working with for 13 months) just sent me an email advising me that she has seen the finished M6 at "the plant".

In her opinion (and I quote here), "it is AWESOME".

Now I know that sounds self serving, but she must see a lot of outstanding cars at BMW M / Individual, so I'm glad that she is impressed and thinks it turned out nicely.

God, she is killing me with that kind of news...

She will be picking my daughter and me up both Monday (when we will visit the M Studio) and Tuesday (for the delivery at the Welt) in an M3. And taking us out to dinner on Monday. You can't ask for better service than that!

Less than 48 hours until my flight to Germany.

Just a taste

Here is a cut down image from the presentation BMW-M/Individual sent me of the bi-color leather with contrasting stitching. They do a great job with Photoshop (or whatever they use).

Again, this is not a real photo from the car. Gustav will be posting the real thing on Tuesday as we drive away.
