Leather wear - covered under warranty?

The leather on my drivers seat on my M6 ragtop is wearing thin.
It is at the spot on the outer bolster where my lower back rubs I guess getting in and out.

Is this covered under warranty?

I had the drivers seat leather replaced on my former m3 under warranty.
They took out the entire seat to recover.

Turbo, thanks for the quick reply. Did they give you a hard time about this?
Was the new leather a good match? How long did it take?

Mines the same and looking at others photos of their interiors its common.

I think its the seat belt that causes the damage.

I'm going to try and get mine down under warranty as well so I am interested to see how you get on!

Interesting to note it is a common problem. That will help when I add this to my list.
I may save this repair for next service though as I have a few other items on my list
and I need to choose my battles wisely.

Are there any photos on this site of worn seats? I couldn't find any in my search.
I'll try posting some later. Can you guys post your worn seat photos too?

we're talking 5 years ago at this point but i remember it was not a big deal.
i recall the key being what the service manager puts on the repair order....not "replace leather" but more like "reports drivers seat leather worn" and the solution was a replacement.

he used to get me wiper blades by putting down "wiper blades don't clear".

it was grey leather and i had no problems with the match, other then the fact that it looked newer and fresher for about a week. don't remember how long it took but i don't think i ever got the car back in less then two work days, no matter what the service was.

I noticed the same thing on mine a week back and was wondering it was because I was putting on weight. Kidding aside, I'd love to get mine replaced under warranty if thats a possibility.

I just got back from the dealer. I had a long list including the brake squeal, which was more immediate to me, so didn't push the seat wear issue. When I pointed it out to the service tech, he wanted to re-dye the seat leather. However since the seams are frayed and ripped, I told him that wouldn't be the way to go. I got the impression they will replace the seat bolster. There is no reason for this to wear like this.

Dealer is Hassel BMW in Freeport. Anyone use them?

Car is service now. When I get it back I'll post some leather wear shots.
