Where to take the Beast for Exhaust upgrade

I will be installing exhaust for my car here in about a week when I get it in, but I was wondering where you guys had taken your car to get it done?? I don't know of any place around here that handles high end cars or really knows about the car except for the dealer. I tried to get the dealer to install it but they said they wouldn't do it and I would have to take it to a muffler shop?? I just don't know if the local muffler shop would really take care of the car or know how to lift it properly, or care?? Maybe I am being too cautious and should just let Meineke or someone do it, but I wanted to check here first. I am pretty sure it is a simple install, even if they do weld it. Thanks!

Go with Dinan Exhausts - they will also match your OEM warranty.

Looks like your closest Dinan shop is:

Crown BMW of Greensboro
3902 W. Wendover Ave
Greensboro, NC 27407

Would make for a nice test drive home.

Well I already bought an exhaust...or am committed to buy an exhaust already. Dinan would be nice, but I still like the sound of the meisterschaft gt2 ..so that is what I went with. Having said that...I am having a hard time figuring out where to take it. I don't think the Dinan shop would like to install a different kind of exhaust but maybe I should call anyway haha.

So the Dinan dealer in Greensboro said they can do it for about $300. I think that is a little high just to put on 2 mufflers lol. Anyway, what are some prices you guys have seen? I can't imagine a Dinan dealer taking more than 30 mintutes to do something like this...or charging $600 an hour for labor

The Dinan standard for labor to install their exhausts on a M6 cab is 1.6hrs (Dinan M6 Cab Exhaust) so it seems like a high labor rate. You need to build a relationship with your BMW SA and you can get lower labor rates, and lower part pricing.

Only thing is that this is the only dealer willing to do it for me and they are 2.5-3 hours away. The only other one I know of is in Atlanta which is 3 hours from me. The one in Asheville and Greenville, SC won't touch anything aftermarket. So not only are they high, but they are 6 hours away total driving time plus install on a weekday that I don't have time off of work for lol. A meineke here said they would do it for $50 but do I trust a meineke with a car they have never even touched before, let alone probably never even seen??

Most cities have a few 'independent' BMW and/or German car specialty shops.
Second choice would be a performance oriented muffler/exhaust shop.
Look for one that sells Flowmaster or similar generic perf exhaust.

Hmmm there is this place that I googled here locally. German Motor Werks of Asheville, Inc. I will call them tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Exhaust upgrade

Well, I wish you live here in Seattle area. I would highly recommend my BMW mechanic to install your exhaust for you.

He is a certified BMW technician, does an excellent job, warranties his work, super nice guy and charges very very reasonably.
He's been maintaining my BMW's for about 3 years now. He charges $50.00 an hour for labor. Less than half what the stealer charges.

I went with Tubi Rumore exhaust on mine and very happy with it. Awesome Tubi sound with absolutely no drone at any RPM.

It took him an hour to instal my Tubi perfectly. I was so happy I gave him $100.00 for doing such a great job.

See photos attached, plus video file on youtube.
