Other than bragging rights, why does this matter? The CLK63 is a somewhat ugly older style MB. The M6 is just in another class. The CLK 63 black series is like a souped up M3. If MB would make a real E63 coupe, that would be more in line with the M6. And I have to agree, there are faster cars (say vette z06), but I would much rather be driving my M car. I had a tough time deciding on my second M, but after driving everything even close in price and performance, the M just felt right for me. The 997tt is an amazingly quick and solid car, but a horrible daily driver that attracts too much attention.

After writing off the BS as another AMG marketing misguidance, I had the chance to race at Cal Speedway Roval config against 2 of them in my Noble as well as with F430, Stradale, and others. The BS is no joke. It truely handles like a dream, and is in a different league than any other AMG car. You are right Noushy, the M6 is in another class.. one notch below on performance (flame suit on).
Dont get me wrong, I loved my M6 and was probably my favorite car to own out of all I've had, but the BS seems to defy physics. The automatic 7 speed is really quite amazing, with blipping downshifts just like the M6, and lightning fast shifts. They've perfected the auto. Styling is subjective.. I personally like the more aggressive widebody appearance. The interior is not as nice as the M6. But if you get yourself some CF euro door panels and seats, it makes a huge diff. After driving one, I (and many others) have changed my mind. Especially with headers and exhaust, the thing sounded AMAZING. Stabbing the throttle 50% in 2nd sends the wheels spinning.. torque is insane. I am still on the edge of which to buy.. M6 or BS. Tipping towards BS.
The car isnt for everyone, rougher ride, no back seat. But thats usually the kind I like
Glad to hear that you found something you would like. I just don't see making a direct comparison. But then again, if you want a true beast, consider a C6 Z06 or better yet, a ZR1. Much quicker than the AMG, but no where near the fit and finish. Still, carbon ceramic brakes, BBS forged wheels, lots of CF, they put the money into performance not interior. There was a used CLK63 BS at my BMW dealership, they wanted 91k for it. I just wasn't impressed as a daily driver. I don't track my cars, use them to get me where I need to go, and put a smile on my face. If I was to purchase a car for the track, it would be an elise/exige, or a GT3. They just make more sense to me, and then having a GT for a daily driver.
Peace,
Noushy
BTW: at least we had 2 cars in common, a M6 coupe which replaced my RS6 (Mugello blue, silver nappa, loved it, loved it, loved it)

Nice. I would have the Smart or RS6 as a daily, I could appreciate something more aggressive for a 2-3 times a week car like the BS. Chipped, the RS6 is as fast as teh M6, however not as fun. I have a Noble and a CRG/Rotax Kart for the track The BS fits nicely between a track car (Noble/Exige) and the RS6. The BS will not be a track car, but I will definitely take it out a few times. I personally dont like porsche, wouldnt mind much a GT3, but there are much better cars for that for tracking (dont like a pendulum hanging off my @ss through turns )
Again, for someone who wants a car with more edge and doesnt have it as his only daily.. BS is great. Esp in mid 70s for used.. dont have to pay 90. Z06 is a great car, but it just dont have that feelin or appeal.
