My M6 is LEAKING!!

yes,, its leaking oil. I noticed few oil stains underneath the car and i never imagined it would be my bimmer's, as i also park my vette and camaro on the same spot. the leak underneath the front bumper, but when i opened the hood i noticed that its all over the place on the right side(right front wheel side). i also noticed that the oil is the rim and covering the tyre. i checked engine oil level in idrive and all seems ok. any idea whats going on ??

Since the M6 is an '07, I am assuming it is still under warranty?

Call your SA and get a flat bed.

The oil filter housing is in the lower front right corner. Unlike the M5, the M6 has no access panel. The black plastic shield (the full width of the bumper) must be removed to access the oil filter housing.

The only thing I can imagine is if the oil filter is not on TIGHT and sprayed some oil.

On a 2007 being such a new car, anthing else would be crazy.

Engine Oil Cooler

About 4 months ago I noticed my M6 was leaking oil. I took it to the dealer and was told that the engine oil cooler had been impacted. The engine oil cooler is directly behind the front bumper. I don't remember running over or hitting anything. I had to spend about $1200 for the new engine oil cooler and labor.

you got robbed.
i had the same thing twice and covered under warranty twice. the oil cooler the first time had a crack and the second time bad seals.
don't let them tell you you hit something, if that's the case your front spoiler would be toast. i have my car lowered and the oil cooler doesn't even come close to being touched. under the front spoiler there's a cover that protects your oil cooler so if that's intact you have nothing to worry about. mine did it at 35,000 miles and did it again at 78,000 miles. so you tell me, is it a driving skill or a factory defect.
any way good luck and don't let the dealer bend you over for a lube job.
take care.
