BUT, when i first picked up the car, 3 weeks into it. a rubber ring of some sort associated with the fuel tank had a malfunction. i was literally leaking fuel. did not dare to smoke a cigarette in the car to say the least. then i had issues with my i-drive and my cd player kept jumping around like it was possessed. then some charger associated with the battery broke and i had about 300+ CEL's in two days. luckily most were covered by warranty except the most recent issue with the charger. cost me around a thousand bucks to replace it. hence, my decision to get rid of the M for a brand new MAS. i dont doubt for a second that i will miss my M once its gone...but practicality calls.

I am really sorry to hear about your experiences with the M6, but mine, couldn't be more different to yours.
Just one little hickup with the CCU on the idrive and apart from that nothinbg at all in 3 years.
Now I have said that, i am sure something will happen

However,,

the interior,, the lack of room,,the joy of SMG,, the proper high rev motor, the lack of gadget and gizmos ,, the rubbish HUD in the vette,, and the price tag in UAE,, all will make u think twice b4 getting urself one. if u only want to go fast,, and faster,, get urself this maniac

I don't think there is really another equivalent car for the money. I am not very excited about the new M6 but I will reserve judgement. I am rather intrigued by th Ferrari F500 or the 599 GTB. They really are too expensive to really justify buying new. For a slight jump in performance, you really pay a king's ransom. P-cars are too small for me. I love my E 90 M3 sedan and to be quite honest, it offers about 80% of the M6's performance for almost half the price! Not a bad choice for the sake of practicality i would never consider a Benz. Not really up for the 100 K Nissan. There really is no place to go but waaay up. During these times of financial hardship, it really seems like holding onto this wonderful and unique car makes a lot of sense! You just can't easily replace it for all that it offers

Absolutely and you forget to mention that with the Ferrari you loose the 2 rear seats ( perfect for kids )

Replacement

You guys are all exactly right. I love hearing from other people what I have been thinking and feeling. The M3 is nice, and handles great, but lacks that midrange punch that the M6 has. I drive a lot on the freeway, and the M3 just doesn't pull away from traffic like the M6 does. In addition, the interior of the M3 seems cheap when compared to the M6 with the full merino. The seats are more comfortable, and roomy, and for my daily driver, the M6 has just been awesome. I agree, the looks are a little odd at times, and not sure what the new 6 will look like (seen spy photos). I also happened to get an M6 2010 convertible for $50 less than an M3 convertible 2010, although the down payment was $500 more. Cannot beat that, a $119k car for almost the same money as an $81k car.

Peace,
Noushy

1.M3 for M6 money?! I don't get that. Yes it's going to be discontinued but they are $50K difference new 2010 cars?! These models are not yet available here!?

2. The M3 pulls hard in the middle my friend, give it another drive! It is really not that much slower than the M6. The M6 will always be top end king but the M3 is a blast!

3. M3 sedan is the ultimate dd IMO. 4 doors with a 6 speed manuall....forget about it!

4. I am certainly no fan of Corvettes but this ZR1 is some great American muscle! Sadly, I hope it survives all of the financial troubles.

Holmes, M6 vs. M3

This is not a knock on the M3. I drove the coupe first, and loved it. Great car, quick reflexes, and fast fast trans. Makes the SMG look like grandma shifting. I could thread it into traffic with ease, and it has great seats, sharp steering, and strong brakes. However, the convertible was another story. Sticker was $81k, lease was $1450 a month, no money down, $1500 in loyalty money saved up, 36month/15k per year plus title and first months payment. BMW has a horrible lease on the M3 series. The M6 came to a little over $119k, for a 2010 convertible. After the dust settled, with a $3000 down payment (to match the 2009 lease loyalty money), same terms, first months payment and title, $1399 a month. That is convertible to convertible, and the M6 is much more car than an M3 convertible. Granted, the M3 had a hard top, but otherwise the 400lb weight penalty is clearly felt. Had to rev it over 5000rpm to get it to move. The M6 has more torque, and pulls much easier. Its just a different car. Also, the new 2010 M6 has the upgraded Nav/Entertainment just like the M3, and it has a much richer interior. Until the new 6 series and M5/M6 come out, this car will keep me happy.

BTW, adding HRE P40 wheels, 19 inch, 1 and 1.5 inches wider, Tubi exhaust, Dinan intake, Dinan software programming, possibly RPI scoops. I am saving $250 a month versus my payment on the 2007 M6 coupe right now, so at least I can splurge on some toys.

Peace,
Noushy

What about the continental GT? I know there is a huge price difference, but that's the only real car I can see as a direct comparison to the m5 and m6 models, as the continental comes in a 2+2 coupe and convertible, and a sedan.
