Common convertible issues?

Hi all. I've been searching for a while now for the right '07 convertible. Now, I've found some that have ranged from $59K listed to $75K or more for an '07 M6 convertible.

short of the obvious issues (accidents and mileage - none having more than 29K), are there any common/prevalent problems that I should look for with the ones that are on the $59K side (ie- SMG problems, etc?)

I'm coming from an 03 E46 M3, and loved the BMW warranty/maint (both extended -though warranty was aftermarket)..

Am I safe w/ sticking w/ the "cheapest" one and count on the BMW factory warranty to save me from major issues (which are?)

thanks.

Jeff

No major problems here

I have an '07 vert purchased 3/07. No major issues here, but I only have 9,800 miles. Couple of annoyances:

1) in first year, kept getting a "tire pressure monitor malfunction (TPM)" message whenever the tires got hot. Took two trips to dealer, but finally fixed.
2) have an intermittent "convertible top not locked" message, two trips to dealer and still not fixed, maybe next time. This one rarely pops up, but it still does once every few months. It is likely an anomoly specific to my car like a bad sensor or a bad connection. Other vert owners, have you seen this one and what was the fix??

Net, net, no major problems other than shredding the rear tires, but I suspect that one can be blamed on driver error!:M5launch::haha:

no vert issues after 20k miles. the top is excellent. Not loud at speed and is fine even at terminal speeds.
The best thing about it is the fact that you can put the back window down year round. It makes much less wind than the other windows and you can hear your beast purr when it's too cold to put the top down.

The most consistantly reported error (window/top related) in the e64 (M or non M) is the window trap issue - dating back to MY05 models and later. It has been addressed with a software upgrade, new window motors, and/or top positioning sensors. Recent problems are most likely window motors - replaced under warranty (IIRC, Progman v25 or so fixed the software related issues.) You should be trouble free with top problems in an 07 or later.

Correct. I have a 2007 cab built 4/07 with about 16K miles and no major problems. :cool2:
