E63 and E64 Exhaust the same?

is the exhuast system for an 08 M6 the same for the 07 M6, and the the coupe exhaust fit the convertible? I was on Britalman and they posted the 650 and 650 converatibles exhaust were different.

m6ontheway is correct. I know several people who were too anxious to wait on Dinan to come out with the convertible exhaust, that they had the coupe exhaust modded to fit, by moving some of the mounts. I waited on the real thing... ...

Snowball- how would you compare the Dinan exhausts to the stock ones? I am especially curious about the exhaust note.
I really wish i could find an M6 with Dinans before I make a decision. To be honest, I am willing to travel to any location in California just to make sure I hear the exhaust before I make a decision. I like the stock exhaust note and wish they were just a bit louder.

When the M6 convertible came out, a german TV car magazine reported the sound design of the exhaust would differ a bit from the coupe to make the sound better to hear when driving top down. I have no idea whether this is true.

The Dinan exhaust is great, but it got fantastic when I also added the Dinan High Flow Middle Exhaust with 3.5" Resonators (Racing Product)! Now it is perfect!

Thank much- a few questions if you do not mind:

  • looking at Dinan site, they make it sound like that the middle exhaust is for racing only and voids the warranty--is that true?
  • would a BMW dealer install since it is a racing product?
  • Is the 3.5" resonator louder that the 4"?
  • I am assuming your investment was over $7k with tax and labor---is that in the ballpark?
  • finally( this must be a stupid question), I have a two year lease on the car- could the exhaust and mid pipe be uninstalled and used on other M6 assuming the car stays the same or are there permanent welding involved?

So sorry about all the questions.

So sorry about all the questions.
1. No it does not void any warranty, instead of getting a matching warranty to the original BMW warranty as you do with non-race parts you get only a 2 year warranty from Dinan. This is OK -
2. I use my BMW dealer to do all work, so one way or the other I never have to pay for any warranty work. They work it out between BMW and Dinan.
3. The 3.5 resonators are louder. If you want it louder you can replace any or all the resonators with straight pipe.
4. No I paid a lot less - I got a discount on parts to start with, a discount on installation, and also got 15% back from Dinan directly.
5. I asked my tech and he said there is no welding and you can put the originals back on, but you will need to get a couple of new clamps and that is it. Save all your original exhausts!

Thank you so much- I just ordered the exhaust with black tips and the mid pipes with 3.5' resonators. Unfortunately, they have to make them and it'll take 7 days plus 2-3 days for shipping.
