Electrical System Malfunction Car Alarm

Today was very weird..... I was at work and all of a sudden my car alarm was going off but I didn't really notice it until I walked to the window and saw/heard it so it could have been going off for a while... So I run down there it is dark but I do not see anyone.... So I disarm it and rearm it.. I am on break looking out the window at it and all of a sudden it goes off again while I am looking at it. I'm now thinking WTF is going on? Once it was time to go home I got in and had "Electrical System Malfunction" The guage needles were going crazy and the car didn't know what time it was and it seemed to be stuck on yesterday. Now I have a couple questions 1) Did someone actually try to steal the car or did a low battery cause the alarm to go off for no reason? Is there any way to see what sensor was tripped?

I am also unable to select sound upon locking and flashing the lights. I select them in Idrive and then it unselects them. Any idea what is going on?

OMG.. thats so wierd.. Mine did the Same shiit last night.. I Armed it, it went off, Came outside and no one was around.. Re-Armed it, Went off about 20 min later..

I live in a private gated spot so its impossible that anyone was around..

It was a full moon last night... maybe that had something to do with it.. I didnt get any codes however... I ended up just leaving it unlocked..

Some people have reported accidently hitting the trunk release on the key in their pocket. If you press it too long - it sets the alarm off. It is easy to do with change or other keys in your pocket. My remote works from the house to the garage (separate building), so it works fairly long distance.

Yah I was thinking about the key fob button. I don't know I have a feeling the alarm was set off and kept going for a while drained the battery and now I am getting weird msgs from a low battery voltage? Any idea why I can't select to have the car make a beep when I lock or unlock the door and flash the lights?

No, mine works just fine with the settings I put in the idrive. Maybe you need the better BMW tech to look at it.

I select them in Idrive and then the system unselects them.... Also my red status light under the rear view mirror is not blinking once the car is locked. So the alarm is not being armed?

He is talking about confirmation/sound setting on locking and unlocking.

From our manual:
Setting confirmation signals
You can vary or deactivate the confirmation signals for locking or unlocking.
1. Open the start menu.
2. Press the controller to open the menu.
3. Select "Settings" and press the controller.
4. Select "Vehicle / Tires" and press the controller.
5. Change to upper field if necessary. Turn the controller until "Door locks" is selected and press the controller.
6. Select "Confirmation" and press the controller.

that is exactly what I do a check appears then disapears.
