Covering lower bumper grill

I dont have much knowledge with techinical features of cars but what is the big block thing behind the lower bumper grill? is it the radiator? I was thinking of putting my license plate on the grill instead of drilling holes on my bumper. Is it bad if my license plate covers the middle part of the lower grill or is it important that air flows through it?

at high speeds for downforce, but you have no choice, everyone in the US has them, NY makes you have to drill the fronts for front plates

I dont have the holes right now, when i got the car dealer asked me if i wanted them to drill on the license plate. I told them no and drove without a plate for a year and a half until cops in the area start enforcing them strictly now. So I want to put it on but not on the bumper but rather on the lower grill...so i guess its ok then?

I would not cover that and disrupt air flow.

I believe the "big block thing behind the lower bumper grill" is the oil cooler.

Covering this up would not be a good idea.

thanks guys, i guess I wont end up putting my license plate there. I just thought it was ok because air could still get in from the sides of the lower grill and of course the front grill
