unofficial M6 calendar 2009 submissions!!!
If you are interested in being in the 2009 M6Board.com calendar, here are the requirements:
PLEASE READ!
1. Must be a current M6board.com member.
It doesn't make sense to have pics of cars of people that no longer are on the board or own the car.
2. High Resolution Very Important!
We would like a resolution of 2300 X 1800 for the pictures. This is approximately equivalent to a 5 Megapixel camera. I cannot stress this enough. A fantastic photo will not make it if the resolution requirements are not met. Scanned or enlarged pics will not work. The higher the resolution the better!!! The reason I say we would like 5 megapixel resolution is because that meets the printing requirements exactly. 4 megapixel images may be able to be stretched and examined to see if they are still of quality to print, but if you want a serious shot at making the calendar, get or borrow a 5+ megapixel camera! I'll say it again, The higher the resolution the better!
3. High Quality
Pictures in your driveway, in front of your house, lined up at a car show, people/other cars/houses/telephone poles in the background, etc. are not calendar quality.
Suggestions: Take a look at auto magazines and see what kinds of pictures are used for cover and featured rides.
4. "Work in progress" / damaged cars
As cool as projects are...we don't want to see them on the calendar. We will be patient and await the finished results
See # 6 below.
5. Copyright releases required
I will provide an online form, that can be sent to me after the calendar pics are selected. My wife and I go through it anytime we have her pictures developed (she is a professional photographer).
6. Photoshop
No digitally modified pictures will be accepted for the calendar.
7. Submission
Submit smaller (640 x 480 or 800 x 600) pictures in this thread. I will narrow it down to a group of about 14-16 pictures suitable for the calendar. At that time, the full resolution pictures will be requested from you. I choose 14-16 because some people may not get the pictures to me in time or there may be an issue with sizing the picture for the calendar.
To avoid being one of the ones that misses the PM about the final selections, make sure you check your PM's regularly. In addition, if you don't visit the site very often, add an e-mail address to your M5board.com profile and I'll contact you through e-mail too asking for the full resolution pictures.
8. "Did I make it in the calendar?"
Please do not PM me asking me this. I will not answer. I like suspense...you'll see it when completed.
9. Must be an E63 M6...(I am pondering the idea of other generation calendars and maybe a mix)
=Other info=
Mods
Although visually very helpful, mods are not the only determination of inclusion/exclusion from the calendar. This is a calendar - it is visual. Cars can be any color, any year, mild to wild.
Who gets in
The process for selecting what pictures will be in the calendar will be done by color variation, scenic back grounds, quality of the photo, and of course how visually stimulating the entire shot is.
Content/layout/design
The calendar will be very basic due to price. The fancier it is, the more it will cost.
Deadline to submit pics
October 31st
This gives you a little under 2 months to wash, wax pose, shoot and submit.
Calendar release date
By having the deadline be October 31st, I should be able to get the calendar ready to be ordered more quickly and would make great stocking stuffers!!!
A few kind requests
Due to the length of time that this thread will be open for submissions, could we please try not to clutter the thread with thousands of pictures or comments? I understand that in this time people may go on more than one photoshoot of their car. It would be kind to me if you would hold off on posting until you have most of your pictures and then narrow it down to your 4 best ones and submit those. Also please only submit your car, mostly due to the fact that I will require a copyright release for photos selected. If there is a car that you know would have a good chance of being selected, direct them to this post. Also, if your picture is completely not qualified (cell phone pictures, pictures in violation of rule 3 above), don't submit them. This is not a "show off your ride" thread. If you want one of those, start one!
Have fun and good luck! We look forward to seeing your pics below!!!
*****
As for those that are chosen to be in the calendar...I cannot promise a free calendar. I am trying to keep the cost at a minimum, but again I do not own any type of print shop. The work will be hired out and I will even have to pay for a calendar. This is not a business I am starting. I thought it would be a cool idea because I looked and looked for a BMW calendar to no avail. I have been involved with this on other forums and thought it would be nice to have a calendar that features "THE BEST CARS."
If you would like your car to be in the calendar, post your preferred pics in the thread. I don't want to create expectations that cannot be fulfilled. Most likely, even those whose car is featured, will have to pay for a calendar.
Please note, that if you submit a picture in this thread, be prepared to have it used without compensation. That way I can get the calendar ready and printed in a much smaller timeframe and at a better price for everyone. Thanks for your interest!!!! So far it looks like we'll all be able to have one sweet calendar!!

I have the original versions of these photos besides these small attachments. Both of these were taken at the Nuerburgring. For those of you who have never driven here, the first photo really gives you a sense of the elevation changes--something you never experience in videos! The second picture was taken the day before Loaded CSL set the Nuerburgring record!
