would anyone know if there are any companies that offer hard tops for the vert? maybe companies that would make it for a group buy?

I think the market is not big enough to justify the R&D to do it. Also the weight addition would be tremendous with the soft top tucked away in the back and the hardtop over the cabin. I think you're only option would be something custom if you're willing to put up the $$.

the highest concentration of car nuts that would do that kind of work would be Southern California or Florida. I don't know anyone specific though.

Well I think you might find the cost would be very high. The car has no rear mounts, and if you wanted rear defrost, defog, you would have to wire that as well. I have been moding cars for over 30 years, and sometimes I have found it is just too costly to do somethings. My guess 10K at least

Call me crazy but I actually like the look of the M6 softop. Among other sport cars with softtops, the M6 is my favorite. The roofline is actually pretty low with the top up which makes the body of the car that much more muscular. This is especially true in the rear with the rear windshield tucked away in a tunnel so to speak. In fact, one of the turn-offs of the new M3 convertible is that it looks a bit bubbly with the top up IMO.
