Car wash - how bad?

How bad will a good car wash place be on my black M6 convertible if I am too lazy to hand wash?

i see your in nyc give teknic1 a call they are on 29 between 10 and 11 i belive they will hand wash it for you ask for gus or angelo. tell them george sent you. by the way you will see a lot of exotics in there so there is plenty of eye candy

washtec washers are great if you can find them in the states. they will NOT scratch paint--even our soft BMW paint.

How about the studies by the University of Texas and the Technical University of Munich showing that automatic car washes damage paint FAR LESS than hand washing?

The problem is NOT the automatic washer.. its the IDIOTS that DRY the car that damage the paint.

I used to get my SUV cleaned at the local Carwash, I stopped after I saw numerous employees drop towels on the ground and pick them up and continue drying.
