ticket for exhaust
I'm completely upset. I'm set on the sound fact that I don't like cops. I was out to get some food, 20 minutes later I'm pulled over. I check the HUD; I'm doing 2 over the limit. I put my mirrors up (spotlights are too bright), I roll down the window and the officer tells me that he had been following me on coldwater cyn and saw me make a left onto ventura blvd. That was impossible because I had been on ventura since I'd left my house which is 6 miles before coldwater, so there's no way I would be making a left off of coldwater. He said I was going a high rate of speed; I just thought "I am not about to get a ticket off of a bulls*#+ lie". Then I thought maybe it was "MMMMMM6" that they'd seen (lol). He comes back 25 minutes later with just an exhaust ticket or so I thought. I examined the ticket and it states non correctable on exhaust and "WRN for speed". It also states I was doing 50 in a 35 which i wasn't, he even stated the streets he supposedly seen me on, on the ticket. Needles to say, I'm vexed, this is the second exhaust ticket I've gotten in 2 days. What can I do about the exhaust ticket? And do you think they will get me for speeding when it comes time to pay the ticket? It's choking me up knowing that I've been completely LIED on.

I would fight the speeding ticket...sounds like he has no grounds...did he use radar or pace you?
As far as exhaust goes....sounds like you have to change it back to stock or to something a lot softer...from what I remember, you have a custom made one correct?

What type of decibel rating did he say it was measured at? WHAT... are you telling me he didn't measure it? There is your case.

the exhaust portion of my tickets are not for sound, just modification. Every time they're around I put it in high gear. He didn't pace me at anything because I wasn't speeding. He supposedly had seen another "BLACK BMW" and said it was me. I'm completely distraught, I'm not sure if whomever writes the ticket into the database will interpret it as a speeding ticket. On the ticket it says i was doing 50 in a 35 and has it down as "WRN for speed" without misdemeanor or infraction circled, no radar. The HKS cans are 50 state legal, so I don't understand what the problem is. I need help!
Edit: I checked the code for the modified exhaust and it's put under whistle tips. I don't even have a whistle tip nor does my exhaust make a whistle...

I would fight both tickets. Sometimes these guys don't even show up to court, and if you are prepared and show the judge that the exhaust ticket is unreasonable. then he is likely to throw everything else out.

Yeah that sounds dumb, I would def fight it because it will just help your insurance rates. Does "WRN" not stand for warning?

Down here in Fla we have no emissions. Pretty much every dude under twenty years old has modded his exhaust. That pig would have a field day here. I bet his shoes were polished. The cop that polishes his shoes is usually by the book but get pulled over by a cop with seeakers and your getting off. Get a ticket attorney they can usually get you off scott free...

It was probably a suburb cop. City cops seemed to be more worried about "real" crime while suburb cops focus more on the "victimless" crimes. We've had 3 radar detectors stolen from cars in front of our house ON CAMERA yet the police here had no leads??!? then 6 years I was riding in my friend's car who was in a fender bender while he was giving me a ride home. Since I had beer in my system and was underage they took me to jail for P.I. I've never had any alcohol or violations(other than traffic and one nuisance party ticket) since that time when I was 17 - kind of ridiculous.

I'm feeling your pain brother. Is this a speeding ticket or a fix it ticket? Theres a huge difference in the two. Depending on what ticket is how you plan your defense. Fight the ticket, its a must.
