Switched from H&R to Eibach Springs Yesterday
FYI:
b/c of ride harshness, slammed look, and problems scraping the from lower lip/mid-undercarriage, switched out H&R springs for Eibachs.
You have probably seen this white 07 M6 before (Brav@SPP owned it previously)...has the 20" DPEs, Vorsteriner Hood, Trunk, & front lower lip, plus SuperSprint X-Pipe & Exhaust,...etc!
Result:
Height changed: H&Rs ~1.25" F&R vs Eibach ~1";
Ride quality IMPROVED dramatically as previously (w/H&R), even on a freeway it would be bouncy all over but now it is splitting-hairs different from stock/OEM;
The look: Still aggressive but not SLAMMED.
One last added benefit for me: neither the car's front lip/splitter nor the mid-underbody scrape as I back up over my drive-way, into my garage (a steep transition from the street over to my drive-way...always was a challange, trying to avoid... )
Final Opinion: Slammed looked and harsh ride of H&R not worth it!

So would you change the springs at all if you had a brand new car? Why? What are you trying to achieve? Just asking as I would like to increase the handling of my car but dont want a slammed vehicle or even anything that i cant drive around scraping the bottom and tearing up my ACS front air dam. Thanks, Nicely

Why Changing Springs!?
I would change out the springs, specially if the vehicle was new! I rather have the car broken in with the springs than to introduce the springs at a later point! I do not race or track the car. I am the usual GT/Touring owner with a led foot and occossional interest in hard driving. With that in mind, I do like to personalize the car and while at it, even if it is technically speaking, I like to improve the performance of the vehicle...of course, without any of the of the additional hassles that many times come hand-in-hand with "bolt on" upgrades! Springs lower the center of the gravity which technically improve the handling when one gets seriously into pushing the car. Springs also improve the looks...giving the vehicle, a more aggressive look. Also when combined with larger rims (as I do...20" DPE Sig's), lowering springs make the gap between the tires and wheel wells look better. Both me and the previous owner had major problems with the slammed look and the harshness/roughness of the ride cause by the H&R springs. I personally probably had a bigger problem b/c I think it was actually dangerous to drive fast with such hard springs on road where a dip or rise on the road could cause unsafe driving conditions for the driver. I would stay totally away from the H&Rs but the Eibachs are totally the "right stuff"...and as it appears, with no downside (other than the cost). P.S.: I bought and had the springs installed by Supreme Power.

Nice input. I'm still looking for a used M6, the black ones with low miles keep disappearing.

oh man, i was seriously considering H&R's for the M6 because I loved them on my E46 M3 and had them even on my E30...ride was stiff but I enjoyed it (that sounded weird)....

Mine is still available. You can get it for the remainder of the lease. No money down.
Its a 2008 with EVERY option, nothing missing, including soft close doors and heated steering wheel.
I got 18 months left on the lease.
PM me if you want more info.

Ever since I took delivery of my M6 about 1 1/2 years ago I have repeatedly heard that H&R's on the M6 are more harsh then other options. Apparently H&R's are more suited to the M5 as reports regarding harshness are not as common when installed on the slightly heavier 4 door.
I have ACS springs on my M6. I believe those springs are manufactured by eibach to ACS specs. The ride height is very nice, lower then stock by about an inch. The ride, while noticable stiffer then stock, is just right for me. Part of the firmness is due to the 20's.
IMO if I were a new owner of an M6 and wanted to lower the ride (good decision BTW as it improves the car in many ways) I would skip the H&R's and go with another selection. H&R's work for some but I know of at least 4 or 5 guys that have switched them out.

If anyone wants my H&R's...just pay to remove them & put my stocks springs back on....and they are yours...I live in NYC and they are defenitely not made for NYC streets.

Absolutely beautiful! I hope my white 08’ looks as clean as yours. I wasn’t planning on a Vorsteiner Package but after your eyeballing this pic, I’m sold. Somewhat like your wheels I will be getting 20” DPE Signature Series S10 black matte face with chrome lips. Wasn’t sure about a black face / chrome wheel on white but after viewing your car I know I made the right choice. The wheels are 20”x9”s front and 10.5”s for the rears. I believe 255’s would wells for the fronts but can’t make a decision for the rears. Should I go 285’s, 295’s or 305’s? What’s on your vehicle? Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments. I have to say the previous owner did a great job with the Vorsteiner hood, trunk, front lower lip, exhaust, wheels, and everything else. He has left me with just a few odds and ends to attend to. I have the 255 fronts with 305 back. I prefer the Pilot Sports on these rather than the Conti's that are on now but np there...will change 2 Mich-PS when changing them out later! I do have spacers on the wheels to make the wheels completely fill-out the fender wells and actually these spacer have turned the car's steering back to OEM/Stock neutural vs what would be underwise a bit of understeer. Others have employed aftermarket sway-bars (not sure if this available for the M6) to bring back neuturality but in this case the spacer have accomplished the same effect. From the sounds of it, your car would look very similar to mine. I had a black 06 M6 a month before this one and I was going to pull the trigger on the Vorsteiner package on that when I came across this white 07 M6, otherwise I would have done the Vorsteiner on that one! Vorsteiner's products are really well produced. Their fit & finish is top-shelf...and recommend them to everyone. You can contact Supreme Power for those parts and they are great to work | | |
