My M6 lowered/new shoes before & after
Hey guys, haven't posted much lately but I'm still around. Finally got around to a few mods. And then finally got around to taking a few pics. Let me know your thoughts.
Charcoal filters removed
Evo Pulley
ACS Type V's
ACS lowering springs
The car is perfect for me. It still has a factory look which is what I wanted, not radical my any means. The wheels/tires and springs firmed the ride up just a bit, which is acceptable to me.
The first pic is before, bone stock. All the rest are after the mods.
Enjoy

Thanks posting MTO. Love that first pic .
Edit: My comment relates to what old grand-mom always told me -- if you don't have anything bad to say about anybody, then just shut the hell up .

Look great
How much did the springs lower the car?
Did the overall diameter of the tire change?
I want to lower the car slightly, but plan to stay with the stock wheels.

Setting the ego apart from the rest ("rest"! that's it, would more sleep help?)
Hey MTO, this question isn't in any way directed towards you, and yes it's semi-OT, but this thread (as with others of course) makes this question somewhat timely.
So here it is (and lol, no offense intended towards anyone anywhere -- peer pressure is a constant in many parts of the world, I know): "Is it possible to live in California and not feel the need to mod your vehicle so that you feel "special"?
I should tell you that my flame suit's in need of some repair (duct tape only goes so far), so please be so kind as to aim for sane areas of retribute, thanks !

Thanks for the kind words. The OEM wheels sold quickly (they are great wheels). The car is lowered about an inch all around and the rolling diameter is almost exactly the same as factory which was a requirement for me.
Modding to feel special???? Interesting supposition, while not really applicable in my case. I think if one is trying to feel special owning and modifying an M6 they have another thing coming. It’s a great car, fast, stealth, well engineered and built, but it’s still a BMW. They stamp these out like the government mints nickels and quarters.
I waited a year before I did anything to my car, and even a little longer for the wheel set-up. I did it because I really wanted improved aesthetics and I absolutely did not want to compromise the ride and performance. I think the car rides and looks far superior to stock. Now when I look at stock M6’s I can’t believe how raised up they look. I also did it because it kept the car fresh for me.
I’m probably done modding this one. I don’t do much modding to the cars that I buy. When I do, it is generally to correct the necessary compromises made by the manufacturer (Charcoal filters are a great example of this). Wayward, you own a P-car, (or two). Look at the ride height of the Turbos vs. the GT3 (got yours yet?) The Turbos are so jacked up in the front, they look funny to me. I’ve always lowered my Porsches, not to feel special, but to make the car correct and nullify the factory compromises and spurious U.S. requirements.
All that said, I can't speak for those that slap on 22" chromies and slam the car. That may be an attempt to be different just to be different and to be "special". Me, I just wanted the car better, and for me I think it is. Isn't that what it's all about anyways?

MaxTimeOff, you dog! Those are the best looking wheels IMO.
I've been eyeing those for a while but can't quite rationalize
the +8k for wheels and tires.
I think headers are one of those mods that addresses a manufacturer's
compromise. Have you given any though to replacing those?
Of course warranty issues could be a major concern there.

Thanks Marshall. It was easy deciding which wheels to get as these wheels are a natural for this car. I generally agree with a lot of people that ACS can be sort of over the top with most of what they are doing today, but they hit the nail on the head with the type V's (I don't care for the type III's and IV's). What was hard to wrap my head around was the BIG $$$$ for the whole set up. That's why it took me over a year to get it done. Believe it or not, I have seriously been looking at these wheels since BEFORE I took delivery.
