Just don't like the M5 but love my M6

I just got back from the M Driving Experience in South Carolina and after spending quite a bit of time behind the wheel of an M5 I have to tell you...I just don't like the car when I compare it to my M6. Initially the 5 body style turned me off. Not as bad a screw-up as the revamping of the 700 series, but a close second. And now I find the fit and finish compared with the M6 is anothe reason for my dislike of the car. The M5 has great performace and handling but, again, compared with the M6, I just felt more in control in the M6 vs the M5. These are all subjective observations but it is what it is.

BTW, if you have not gone to the M driving experience in SC, it is a whole lot of fun...well organized and you get to beat the stuffings out of their cars ...I can still smell the breaks and tires burning.

I will be going there the end of Sept. Did you get a change to drive the M6 also? What about the new M3's? I have a new M6 and can't wait to "play" with their cars!

        What I drove in SC

I drove an M6 SMG, an M6 manual, an M5 SMG and a Z4M coupe. And why ANYONE would want an M6 with a manual tranny escapes me. The car was designed for an SMG. The manual totally changes the driving exerience and quite frankly, I can not shift as fast as the SMG when set in P500 Sport setting.

BTW. no new M3s at this point at the performance center.

I found the M6 handles noticeably better. I also feel the high revving engine/ automated shifting concept works better for a sports GT than a big sports sedan. Purely psychological but thats me.
