My bass goes out at high speeds?

This has happened a bunch of times, at first i thought it was only when i had the music loud for long periods of time, but now i'm starting to realize that when i really push it (over 100mph) the bass goes out shortly after. one time all sound went out. the dealer wasn't able to find anything wrong at all. i usually have to shut the car off for a few min and then try again. I have a cab. has this happened to anyone else?

Richie - (M6ontheway) mentioned something to me about his radio going out, might be the same issue.

Try turning off (or down all the way) the speed sensitive volume control in iDrive. My guess is that the system wants to increase the sound (and maybe disprortionately the bass, which suffers most from high speeds) and is doing the opposite instead. I'm just finishing break-in and have only went just over 100mph for a few seconds and I had the audio off.
Do you have premium audio with enhanced bass or standard Logic7?

yup have the premium system, not sure it's the speed sensitive volume bc everything else is still loud, just no base. additionally, wouldln't you think it would come back on once you slowed down? appreciate the suggestions

The sound sensitivity volume control is under audio settings in iDrive,

I had this issue with a CL65 2003, but the problem on that one
required a change of the base system and the amplifier under the passenger seat.

My M6 suffers from a similar problem. After approx. 2 hours continous driving at normal speed suddendly the whole information system (navigator, radio, I-Drive control, Cellular, etc.) freezes in. Only after I stop for over 30 Minutes the systems unfreezes. My official dealer spent hours looking for the causes of the freeze, but without any result. They changed all the hardware and the software without remedy. Is this BMW / iDrive specific?

These issues lead me to believe that these issues may be heat-related, i.e.: a thermal sensor triggers shutdown until the hardware cools down.

Jaeg, i can't say my problem is that severe. it's only the bass and just one time all sound. it usually takes a decent amount of continuous driving with loud music and usally some fast speed. i think it might be heat related bc it's only happened with the top down, granted i haven't owned the car during a winter yet so i can't be positive. thanks again for all the responses.

most likely it is related only to the heat in audio amps not the car running for a while.
