Well, I just checked Michelins site, you are correct, the PS2s for the 997s are indeed rated at 186+, however at those speeds, inflation pressure is extremely important. Maybe the tire that failed was a little low on air pressure, overheated, and catastrophically failed .

- How big is the performance gap to the Rt12 with longer gearing? Is it clearly visible? Would you opt for a shorter gearing in your next car again or is the longer (standard) Rt12 gearing the better choice?
- V Max with this R Turbo setup is around 320 km/h. Just like you say it's seldom one travels at 300+, so more fun to get there as soon as possible
Please bear in mind this is a complete change of gearing. 1st gear ~90 km/h 2 nd ~130 km/h etc. and there's a heavy premium to do it (don't ask I don't know exactly but enought to think twice.)
This is RUF Center Sweden's idea and we think we're the first in the world with a car like this. There's another one (R Turbo 650 with specials) in the making as we 'speak'.
That would be our demo car so if you're in Sweden give us a ring...

- Regarding difference in performance I'm not sure there's a reply until we see some videos. I've asked my collegue who was driving but his focus att 320 km/h isn't on how far ahead he is...
I've been told the R Turbo took the start (due to gearing?) and kept the distance stable thru the run, so I don't think the Rt12 will disappoint with its more modern package.

With the longer gearing I think the Rt12 has a V Max of 362 km/h.

The Rt12 has perfomed 0-300 km/h in 24.86 secs and 1.411 meters (AMS?).

Actually, I am very glad to read about the strong performance of Ruf customer cars at your event. That only confirms my excellent impressions of Ruf to date

BTW: How far is it from Frankfurt/Germany to the Airstrip you use for your event
It's 1333 km. I did it this year driving the whole way. If I am invited next year, I will take the ferry from Travemunde and ferry ride to Stockholm and the drive the rest of the way. The ferry is a party boat to Stockholm from what I hear. This way you can sleep onboard and be fresh for the event the next day

Thanks for the km data. What would you think: how many kms via the ferry?
