I wish to thank Gustav for a great event, and I had a lot of fun.

The only dissapointment was my car. The car did not performe well that day. The Vericom showed that I missing at least 20-25 km/h in 402m, and the 0-100 km/h run is out of the range what the car should perform.

After we got home we wired the ECU to the laptop and we read out a lot of failure from the ECU. So the result was a broken MAF and boostleakage. So now the car has a new MAF, a new panel filter and a modified air box. The car will be pressure tested next week for boost leakage.

So I will be back in Autumn to test the car again. I have eaten 996 Turbos with it before, and after this weekend when a 996 C4S and the RS4 B5 totally smashed me at the airstrip I know that something was terribly wrong with the car. I say like my tuner says about the new RS4, -You can outmanage that car backwards The Driftbox was also tested on a likewise car and the result was 13.8 in 0-200 km/h, pretty good for a stationwagon.

Regards
Johan

The tire was repaired properly and I can promise you that on the run vs. the R Turbo he didn't go slow for any reason.
But he did fewer runs because of this (confidence, plus he is far away from home and need that tire...)
I don't blame him and he has promised to return next time with new tires

The R Turbo took the start and kept the distance even thru the run.
Since the R Turbo has a different gearing I think this could be an explaination.

Just for your information: Yes the R Turbo is fast but there are no special things that you can't buy and add to your own car.

I would have kept that in mind as a driver in a 300km/h++ car. But hey, maybe im a real chicken?

I was with him for one run, he drove it full out in the race (against the winner-RUF I think), but took it real easy on the transportation roads back to the starting point.
Btw he got off to a bad start in that race, but I guess that will show up on tape aswell.

Perhaps you should consider naming this series:

Supercar Shootout in Sweden

You will get so many more internet hits. Nobody really understands what Airfield Runs are unless you have already seen the videos.....this will help you sell more DVDs.

The S600 Biturbo where modded and the SL65 AMG and S65 AMG have enough of juice already.

@SUPRA:

I have two brief question regarding the gearing of the 996 RUF with the Rt12 engine:

- What is the vmax with the shorter gearing?
- How big is the performance gap to the Rt12 with longer gearing? Is it clearly visible? Would you opt for a shorter gearing in your next car again or is the longer (standard) Rt12 gearing the better choice?

The background of my question is that I am in the process of buying a Rt12, and am thinking about a shorter gearing as well. You know, how often can one drive 350kph

Many thanks in advance

BTW: Thanks to Gustav, looks like a great event! If only the airstrip was a bit longer. You could do 0-300kph times then. That would be the ultimate highlight
