OKIE DOKIE friends. After a lot of fussing from fellow board members and other online skeptics, I have finally published a full-bore high-speed run of my car. I used a self-made set-up using a Garmin iQue 3600a 12 channel WAAS enabled GPS receiver and two video cameras. There seems to be a bit of speculation about how fast an S85 equipped car can plow through the ozone. While my car hit its limiter at 8250 engine RPM and 340 kph/211 mph indicated, the GPS showed a little slower—A LITTLE SLOWER.
The weather was perfect. No wind and since I did the run on the same road in both directions, there can be little doubt that this car IS FAST. I will switch to 20 inch tires and try and raise the rev limiter. If so, I might be able to crack the 210 mph mark which is impressive for a car that cost me less than 100K USD.
I hope you enjoy the video. You can view a high-resolution version soon. I’ll post the link here.
that was awesome dude... totally awesome!!! incredible... That makes me lean more for ///M6 then ///M5 but I still love both of them... no need to comment ///M Power all the way...:M5launch:
While rendering the high-def version of the video, I noticed that once DSC kicked-off at 340kph indicated (318 kph GPS), the speedometer froze (pegged out) and my tach kept climbing. That equates to a 6.9 percent error at that speed between the GPS and the speedo. At 332 kph GPS, I should have seen about 355 kph indicated!!!
Correct me if I am wrong but at these speeds, DSC needs to be switched off because of some sort of wheel slippage issue. For the life of me, I cannot remember the issue right now.
Well done! You've managed to do something that a car show here in the UK, Fifth Gear, has tried to do in two separate episodes now...break the 200mph barrier.
Their first attempt was in a Brabus Rocket in Germany but they broke the car and then ran out of road and time, the second was in an A1 GP car on a runway and they still failed....and you manage to do it on a Sunday drive in your daily runner! Legend!
Wow! Thanks scoopz. I didn't realize it was such a big deal. I would be more than happy to have the 5th Gear crew come and visit me in Germany so I can show them how I did it. It only took about an hour to set up a couple cameras, buy a tank of gas, and pick the best day of the week to do it...
I think I have found my way to worship God (200 mph on a Sunday Morning):M5launch:
The verdict is in Russ. You've been found guilty of performing a greatly admired feat. Your sentence, per this board, is...a profound series of THANK YOU'S!
[Gavel slams down with a thunking sound] (Haha and yep, screenwriting may yet be in my future).
This video sounds well worth watching, from everyone's comments! I wonder if someone could repost it some other way, like the M5 at 300kmph in the E39 thread?
Reason I ask is, Youtube has been banned/blocked here in Thailand ever since someone posted a video that was uncomplimentary towards the king a few months ago.
So.... I'm sitting on my bed early on a Sunday morning after deciding a few days ago that the Mini needed to be replaced. It looks like and 06 is in my future soon.
Waffles, orange juice... and then I stumble across this thread.
As impressive as the VIDEO is, I am even more digging the AUDIO. I love the throaty, deep rumble of a real car at speed. My 996 had a great exhaust note, but the V-10 exhaust note is incredible.
It's one of my bug-a-boos about Formula 1. The V-8 and 19,000 rpm is impressive, but no so much so as slightly lower revving v-10 and v-12 engines from a few years back.. They just sounded MEANER!!!!
And this video *audio* brought me back a few years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of us gathered at the mansion we stayed at before the event as well as had lunch durign the event. From left to right is highly tuned Toyoa Supra, Dodge Viper Supercharged, Aud RS4 tuned, Kelleners Sport BWM M6, BMW M5 E39 and Audi RS4.
Testing the airfield the day before. Kelleners Sport BMW M6, heavily modified Supra (650 HP+), Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG.
These cars will not be stationary for so long. Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG vs Kelleners Sport BMW M6.
Man I sure do love Russ´s M6, it´s insane  This video makes my heart jump like 10.000 feet I want to get in my M5 and just drive to Germany and do some runs back and forth, just for fun :wroom:
Thanks everyone. I tried leaving the video short to just cut to the chase and go fast, but others have said they want a re-post of the whole video. Any opinions one way or the other?

M V10.....I have to say, I love being in the passenger seat...I get to seat back, enjoy the thrill of the ride and the view! I love speed, just don't have a really good history with it, somehow end up getting tickets! Driving in Germany is great , there are lots of wonderful and extremely exciting roads besides the autobahn, you should try it sometime!
