6-CD Changer standard on MY2008?

I did a search but really couldn't get an answer to my question. Does the 2008 M5 come with 6-disc cd changer standard? If so, is it in the glove compartment or the trunk?

Here is another solution if you do not want to lose room to a changer, or even to bear the expense.

Put together CDs of MP3 tracks. You can fit probably 10 CDs on one disk. I used my Powerbook and iTunes, easy.

I am making 3 or 4 disks, and storing the ones not in use in the glove box. That will give me plenty, and the one in the dash will have way more music than would fit in a changer. The track names come up in the display very nicely.

MP3 obviously has less "information" and thus lower fidelity, but to my old ears I can't really tell the difference, and I challenge anyone to in a moving car.

I just got my '08 and it wasn't an option.......but car does have a changer in the glove box.....so I would say that it seems to be standard on the car....

Yes, it's standard in Canada.. but not really sure elsewhere..
and there are many differences between USA and Canada,
e.g. CD changer, rear folding seats, Alcantara anthracite roof liner,

That's correct. USA option(I own one, therefore I Know), std in Canada, as per Canuck (member) Hope that helps. According to BMWNA the USA is addicted to MP3s. I got the adapter, don't know if I'll ever use the damn thing. I also know the dealers hate to install the CD changer in the glovebox.

Why they've gotta do this spec differentiation between contries on this insignificant stuff just makes no sense. I'm sure there's a good reason, I just don't see it.

What will sell and be wanted/needed in various markets; derived via marketing studies/focus groups/yada, yada, yada. It's a bunch of crap.

MY 2007 is not prewired, so there is extra work (dealer labor charges) to install the CD-Changer or iPod interface.

MY 2008 might be different. On the build sheet for the car, look for "CD-Changer prep" or something similar. This shows the cable is prewired.

The dealer must also code the car to enable the CD-Changer, it is not plug and play.
