Custom Exhaust for e60 m5?

Whats up guys?

A buddy of mine has an e60 M5 and was wondering if anyone has ever done a custom exhaust on the car rather than spend 2500 for aftermarket.

If so what size piping did you use and what mufflers do you think sounds the best.

I know some are going to say "he drives an m5 and doesnt want to pay 2500 dollars for an exhaust?" . Answer is yes he can make the same power gains for half the price, and doesnt care if its stainless under the car.... just stainless mufflers.

Let me know if anyone has done this and what they went with.

As I recall, member ttm6 (an M6 driver) did some custom piping to replace the cats and resonator sections. Don't know about any one doing mufflers.

By the way, I wouldn't expect much, if any, power gains just from swapping the mufflers.

He wants to do from Cat Back... Power Gains wont really even be noticable, but the sound is what he wants... and we all know what these beasts sound like with a aftermarket exahust.... well **** we all know how they sound stock. ahah.

If that's the case, he could start by cutting out the resonator section and having straight pipes fitted in their place, feeding into the stock mufflers. He'll get more growl outside and substantially more inside the car.

If that's not enough, he can look at options for replacing the mufflers.

Call ASR Engineering he does a custom exhaust. I don't know how much he charges. (it was a gift)

But the exhaust sounds sick he does them in S.S. and Aluminized. If you choose aluminized the x-pipe is still s.s. and so are the mufflers and tips.
The exhaust tips look like the stock ones but bigger(in a nice way, classy way)

About the same performance gain as an Eisenmann Race. My buddy has it and there's no difference except the eisenmann is louder and resonates. THIS ONE DOES NOT!

There's a few of us in South Florida with them. I know of an 2 M6's and 2 M5's including mine.

i had custom exhaust made for my e55. full custom long tube headers all the way back and it was less than $4k. if your buddy is near phoenix pm me.

I did custom exhausts on my old M5...and got custom made headers and E-Race onb my e55 and removed all the cat...With cats removed there is also less ressonase from E-race mufflers...

I dont think is hard to do a custom ehaust for new M5/M6...

Look at SS sustem and do the same...remove secondary cats, make X-pipe and finish with quality mufflers and nice oval tips ...I doubt that it will cost more the 1000-1200 USD...

I'd suggest using Burns Stainless parts if you do a custom exhaust. Their stuff is beautifully made.
