So I broke down cause of you jerkheads and called Dave at Motor Works West yesterday and they had a new rear dif. sitting in stock waiting for an M6 late next week. Well, I wasn't having any of that and we agreed that it would be best if the M6 waited and I got it first. So, I just dropped my beast off at MWW and while I was there I figured I'd have them *finally* remove my charcoal filters and install a front strut brace. (If I'm going to hear a whining, when will it happen?)
I'll report more later when I pick it up, but I just wanted to say I hate everyone here, and you should all pay my credit card bills...

I've always been susceptible - have modded damn near every car I've had. You guys just handed an alcoholic a fifth of bourbon. I can not be held responsible for my own actions
Well, All I can say is good luck. I took my M5 back to my installer to have the Dif oil changed. They drove the car and said they can hear the whine or whirl that I was talking about, but they said it was reasonable. Thus, I will drive it like i always do, and at the end of the warranty period, if it is still there, I will have them replace it on their nickel.
The slight noise that I had ocurred on deceleration mainly at two speed differentials (80 to 70, and 50 to 40).
I'll make a note of it. The good thing is that MWW has acknowledged the whine as a problem and said if it is there, they will do everything to make sure it is gone at no cost to me. They are a very good dealer.
I've got a section 2 eisenmann pipe and the eisenmann race ovals in already. If I was serious about tracking the car I'd first put myself on a heavy diet and then go for the throttle bodies and headers (which I'll eventually do, naturalich)...
Next up will be the stage 2 suspension sans bumpers and springs. Andrew and Neil are raving. Coupled with the front strut and maybe the rear, this should make her go-fast more complete.
good work david !! im very proud of you ,, yes you may have a little whine but the performance quicklly makes you forget about it..dont even think whine drive it for a couple of mo's and when they fix the problem have them exchange it,,just enjoy it for now..
and you know what they say a glass of whine a day is good for you ..
Wowzers...So they installed the Rear dif, the front strut, and removed the filters. Next week they're doing the stage 2 suspension install (minus the springs/bumpers)...Car feels like a new girl - MUCH more responsive. I'm sure others have said it, but P400 feels like P500, P500 like P500S, and P500S is too scary to use Gonna wait until it is dark out to go try some launches...Nice upgrades for sure. (something like 4600$ for labor + parts [inclusive of freight, diff oil, 1200 mile service, etc.])
I've been going to MWW since 2002, never had an issue with them. Dave treats me like family.
