Has software version V25 been released?

I heard V25 is released and the CCC has a nice update with a different Menu screen. I will check this asap, but can anybody confirm this already?

Well I guess so:

I not take these pictures, but they show some differences with the latest V24 release. The main menu page, cd page and airco page for sure look somewhat different.

Now let's hope they also updated the IPod etc. I didn't see any release notes from V25 yet and will try to get them.

My very limited understanding... Its not general release yet. But its a touch simplier in graphics (over 24, for speed) AND AND AND, you can now search nav by keyword!!!!

WL

PS, I'd wager that it won't be avail in US until after '08s hit. And because its a big upgrade, I'd also wager BMW doesn't want everyone coming in for a 4 hr programming... thus they won't advertise, and will want some "cause" to give it to ya.

They will always need a good cause to give it to you unless you are willing to pay for about two hours labour to get it done.

I can think of plenty reasons why they should give this to me for free. I guess I only have to bring up the recent idrive hangs during ipod use or whatever else I can think of.

Not sure if I saw these screen in the '08 M5 touring. I guess the touring was on display with V24 software. Obviously there had to be some new code due to the fact they added 8 buttons.

The guy I got this from has a SSS lease with a contract to get updates until V30 (2009) and he just received V25. That makes it a general release if you ask me.

I also don't think that simplier graphics will speed things up. The colorplanes remain the same and it really doesn't matter thereafter. You could speed things up be decreasing the resolution (not done) or decreasing color bitplanes (also not done here).

Where did you get the "AND AND AND, you can now search nav by keyword!!!!" ?????

Hopefully they put in an IPod alphabetic search option.

I'm with ya. I agree, and I do understand the tech a bit (as I'm in the industry... ha, kinda like saying you're a doctor, who knows if you're a head doc, a heart doc, etc...).

We probably surf the same places, and speak to some of the same people. It seems BMW does software releases by region. Thus I wouldn't expect the NA version (didn't see your location until now) until April.

I also don't wish to speculate what "simplier" graphics could do for speed (who knows how they choose to handle loading/mem usage, etc.) I did wanna repeat the two things I understand (very limited) were "in there".

On another note, I do think BMW should brag about the constant updates, not hide... I didn't sit down with the bean counters... but I can't fathom this would do anything but make them look good/sell more product/do additional service work (such as iPod/phone cradle) installs.

I am getting V25 next week. It's free of charge anyway, but I hope the system will be as fast as one year ago, and it will take care of the cd that keeps running after shutting off.

Frank.

If you say that the system (V24) is slower than last year (earlier versions), I would be very pleased. I only know this system from V23 and on so I am used to the current speed. Anything faster would be very nice. I find that voice control takes away lots of the slowness since I don't have to use the i-drive button this much anymore and I don't have to look at the screen to get certain things done.
If you do have it before I do, please update here with your findings.

Only free if BMW decides they need to do it to correct a problem you are having.
