Yeah, completely stock ours was priced at 1,715,000 DKR, specced with around 250,000 DKR in extra equipment, we got it for 1,8 mill. I think they raised the price a little since then though...
1$ = ~5,8 DKR
Hi MortenDK,
I think that the very high price in Denmark is due to local taxes, not to BMW profiteering, is that correct?
For those who had a right to buy tax-free, Denmark used to be the place to order your car.
In fact Manufacturers often make the lowest European ex-factory prices of all in your country just to offset the Tax a little.
In UK the basic M5 price is about GBP 63,000. Around 115,000 USD, but this includes Sales Tax (VAT) of 17.5%.
The options count also varies quite a bit from country to country, as does the availability of variants.
In UK we get loads of diesel variants of BMWs but no 4 wheel drive versions.
Also the new M5 Touring will be the first ever M5 Touring available with right-hand steering.
Some of these are factory decisions but are strongly influenced by the local BMW office.
Tax however is down to politicians.

M5 - Weapon of Mass Consumption
Currency Motor Cars (Westlake, CA) is proud to introduce the first of an unprecedented line of supercars. This flagship model is an ingeniously modified a 2006 BMW M5 that can reach a top speed of 240 mph. This makes it the fastest, most powerful luxury 4-door luxury sedan on the planet. It's high compression V-10 engine has been brilliantly altered, by company founder Ron Cash, to accommodate twin-turbos and a custom, hand crafted inter-cooled system to kick out an astounding 810 horses. No one in the world has been able to achieve this...until now. This is the only car of it's kind. The mind-boggling power of this vehicle is complimented by the exquisite $100,000 alteration of it's interior. The leather in the steering wheel is the same as the leather in the seats. Fully aniline dyed Florida Crocodile in black. Only the finest suede and leathers have been used, much like the old Delahay and Bugatti roadsters adopted in the 1930's. The custom interior is all hand stitched, designed and installed by CMC co-founder Judy Amic-Angelo, one of the most respected product designers in the country.

Not to be a curmudgeon, but the performance claims are highly suspicious. With stock internals, the high compression of the S85 would limit you to maybe ~ 6 lbs boost. This translates into the neighborhhod of 700 bhp. This is consistent with the dyno data that I believe is referenced in the article (588 whp). No way, no how this kind of power output will propel this tall two-ton sedan to 240 mph. Where in the world did they come up with that figure! Even if it did put out 800 bhp you'd be short on power. The aero drag at that speed is enormous.
While I'm sure the custom interior work is first rate, and I applaude the engineering accomplishment of the rear-mounted twin-turbo set up, exaggerated performance claims are bush-league and do a severe disservice to the whole enterprise.
I'm definately not sold on what we've seen of the interior thus far, but what we've seen isn't much. I'm really curious how you spend 100k on the interior.
