Advice on BMW Dealer (MA)?

I bought a new 2007 M5 about a month ago from a dealer here in MA, apparently the largest BMW dealer in MA.

Upon picking up my car I bought snow tires through the dealer (18” M5 rims with Blizzak LM-25 255/45HR-18.) I also asked that the dealer install an ipod adapter.
I was told that an ipod adapter could not be on a 2007 M5 EVEN THOUGH I gave them the contact information for a BMW dealership in Florida that installed an ipod adapter on a 2007 M5. [Thanks to “Gadgets”] Oh by the way, they refused to give me a loaner while they put on the winter tires which took them over a week!.

Earlier this week I gave my M5 in for its 1,100 mile service.
I asked them to update Progman to version 24. They refused and told me that it would cost over $600 to do this if I wanted. I gave them the service bulletin referring to Progman 24 but this didn’t help.

I also asked them to remove the charcoal filters for me - guess what – they refused. They said that they wouldn’t do it. I offered to give them some dynamometer information about the improvement but they refused it.

HELP. WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT THIS DEALER?

you should simply find a new dealer.. file a complaint with bmwna..i have an 06 and i got the ipod adaptor put in almost 2mo's ago..these guys are just ignorant..imho.the software is something thats always available to customers its our right to have the latest version.call bmw na and just get real upset about the whole situation and ask them to call the dealer and give bmwna a reason as to why they wont do the work.then find a new dealer to do it..

about the charcoal filter thing i don't think that i would've asked them to do it cause, its simply a part that bmw puts in like factory equip. and i would'nt think that they'd take em out..do it your self jfenly has awesome diy instructions that take no more than 15mins p/side.here is the thread.

you don't necessarily need to service your car the same place you purchased it. I don't live in MA but if you're not happy with the service then have someone else serviced it.

Switch dealers and file a complaint. I wouldn't put up with that.

Well, after having googled 'largest BMW dealer in MA' and seeing who the 2nd hit was I think that's your problem. They don't have a great reputation-- at least here on this Board.

Removing the charcoal filters might be a different issue though... you may be on your own for that from a dealer perspective (which doesn't seem unreasonable from my view).

not from around there, but I wouldn't put up with any of that except the charcol filter removal... they won't do that for sure.. the rest I'd make them. If they were just continuously rude I would file a complaint and go elsewhere.
I did the same thing here in CO.
I went to Gebhardt and had an M5 on order, this car salesman, "Tom" was a complete idiot. I mean he didn't know his *** from his hand. Then when I finally was like this is rediculous, I took my $$$ deposit, went to Ralph in Denver and bought it there.
I have never been back since to the Boulder one, and I never will. I won't recommend them to anyone and I will do my best to steer people away.
Go to where you need to get the service you need from people that are respectful and nice. I wouldn't put up with rude incompitent people.
File a complaint as well.

Easy...
After many many heart aches with all three big BMW dealers in MA the verdict for the best at least for me is:

BMW Gallery in Norwood

Ask to speak to Matthew (Matt) Krappe, he is an upstanding guy who always gave me straight answers with no BS.

I tried the other two Herb Chambers and Foreign Motors West and will not make any disparaging other than the first forgot to take out one of my spacers in the suspension on my M3 and i drove that car very fast and hard for 10k miles until the nice guys at Turner Motor Sports noticed the spacers and gave them to me in a nice plastic bag. You can only imagine how pissed i was at HC for sloppy new car prep...
And FMW gave me back my M3 after front end repairs with a faulty temperature switch that noone bothered to check and left me without car or loaner over a holiday weekend after the car spent 3 weeks in their shop (sloppy work).

I have not had the chance to deal with BMW of Peabody which i am told are also good. So can't comment on that. Voila hope that helps.

BTW about the charcoal filters, you really can't blame them fo rnot doing it. It is probably illegal for them to do that as a dealer since it is kind of akin to asking them to remove the catalytic converters, the filters are there for a reason, to reduce gasoline vapor emissions.

Sorry to hear about your headache with MA dealers, it's a shame. Just find a different one and case done. The Charcoal filters need to be removed by yourself, it's easy, just follow the link on this board, I did it and I am happy to have them out. I had my Ipod interface done before taken delivery of the car, it's not a big deal and most of the dealers can do it. Good luck and keep us posted!

Take your car up to Turner Motorsports in Amesbury, MA. They have fantastic techs and I am pretty sure they provide full BMW service as well as some awesome mods. They will pull your charcoal filters for you as well.
