Illuminated door kick panel trims

If you look on the BMW site at the spec when building a new E60 M5 the long list has:
M door entry kick-panel trims (Illuminated)

Now they certainly aren't illuminated on my M5, is this something new for the facelift M5? I think I'm right in saying the M6 has illuminated cills, pehaps they were just lazy and did a "cut'n'paste" job on the descriptions?

do a search for "illuminated door sills" and you will see mine installed. Problem is they don't make any M5 illuminated sills - only ones that say BMW. I got BMW NA to agree to install them for free because I had a brochure that depicted them. Illuminated Door Sills Installed

I remember even way back, 2-years ago, that that was mentioned somewhere. I think it is a lazy typo, as I have not read anything about those on the facelift reports.

From the early brochure for the 2006 M5 - probably circa Sept. 2005. It clearly pictures and states the M5 will have illuminated door sills. Later, the brochures changed to not include this feature.

M6 has illuminated sills but not the M5.

There have been a number of errors in the brochures. I remember when BMW tried to convince me that Active Cruise Control was available for the M5:

The M6 does have lighted door sills. I never ever noticed them until after I picked up my car, since I never went to the dealer at night. They look nice, but would not have paid extra if they were optional.

Now that I have owned the car for a few months, my opinion has changed. They are actually useful when parked in a dark area, and I have been surprised by all the positive comments. The lighted sills are the first thing everyone seems to notice.

I was also dissapointed when my kick plates didn't light up, I reached in the glove box to pull the torch out & do it manually....., & there was no torch!!!

Well, at least its quick, looks great, takes the p**s out of 99.9% other cars on the road!
