yep, I want one. Would much rather have the wife and progeny in that than the 100 series LandCruiser.

greetings e60 owners.

just to add some more fuel to the fire that this touring has generated, i thought maybe some of you might get a kick out of my hare-brained little project today.

The E60 M5 Touring is flat out hot! BMWNA...if you're sharp enough to be reading this board, get this vehicle here and we will buy it!

Some of the earlier posts questioned the utility of such a car. This is not an SUV alternative for soccer moms. This is for dads that want it all in one car -- hauling the kids, Saturday eve with the bride, Home Depot and to your favorite bike trail. We baby boomer Yanks seem to be the only ones with this bias against wagons; call it the June Cleaver factor. To my eyes, the lines of the E60 touring are perfection, especially from the rear vs. the sedan.

Station Wagons in the US

Station wagons in the US only work with woodgrain paneling.....

The M5 Touring is a subset of a subset....I think the BMWNA would rather sell the X5s...

I think you hit the nail on the head. I like every aspect of this car. from the styling and perfromance to functional or practical, idea of the car. why not have a car that can take the kids to hockey practice in half the time it normally takes. We wont get it in the US. BMWNA would be afraid of bringing competition against there own models like the M5 sedan and the X5

Brilliant, I was going to get a X5 4.8is to tow the M3 to and from the Nurburgring but I might hang on to the E39 528 for a couple more years and then get an E60 M5 Touring. Of course there is the 535d with a remap.

but I really like the E60 Touring......

mikey,

you hit THAT right on the head. it's almost like an observation that i think i have verified informally. e39 540 wagons with the 2.5 engine generally is seen with mom shuttling around kids and dogs. (then there's the 5-speed that a few enthusiasts own.) then the ones with the 4.4 v8 are very much owned by crazy dads - who want it all in one car, and happen to appreciate the shape of the touring! in fact, just came back from a lunch date with my wife in it.
