160 mile test drive

Read this on a German m-forum, and just had to post it here.
Guy takes his M into the dealership for a hard to trace defect. The car stays with the dealer for a week, so they can run some tests. When he gets his car back it has 160 miles more on it (but with the exact same fuel level).

The fun part is that the mechanic didn't know he had a gps tripcomputer in his M. He studied the print out, and he saw that the car was taken to (most likely) the home address of the mechanic several times. He was not too upset as sometimes (with permission) that happens. When he studied the info more closely he saw that until 3 a.m. the car was parked outside a local disco

Guess the mechanic wanted to impress the ladies with his car
Since nothing happened to the car, he isn't sure he should report it to the dealership

I'd probably be looking for a gun

Frank.

Completely unacceptable behavior. Would definitely let the dealer owner know about it, and produce the GPS data, and ask what retribution they are going to make.

A gun? Its just a car guys... not your child. Report it to the dealer and make them give you some sort of freebee such as a free dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and be done with it.

I took my car in for a software update. The tank was full. When I collected it the tank was 3/4 full. I made the mistake on not writing down the Km's before I gave them the keys.

Still they could have had it running a while without driving it. I cant Imagine them taking it for a joyride since the place that I work is just across the street from the dealer.

Wouldn't that be a sight. Someone going WOT with your beast as you stare out your office window.

160 is absolutley insane. Right now, it seems like the owner had all of the right counter-measures in place to make sure that he didn't get screwed over. Now it is time to use the GPS, KM check and go straight to the dealer.

A new car...since it happened in Germany it was probably 160klms, not miles. Get real...a coupon for a couple of free dinners is about all you can hope for...
