M5 / M6 Roll Call - Track Day (Toronto area)

M5 / M6 Board,

I am just taking a roll call to see if people on this board in the Toronto, Canada / NE US area would be interested in a track day?

If we get substantial interest, I would look at renting a track for a day for some fun. I was thinking either a quarter mile track or an airfield to replicate the Swedish experience.

I have no idea about the legality / cost / location.....just curious about the interest level. If it is high, I will look into it.

Again in the Toronto area.....

Ya.. Mosport is very close... just by Oakville..
Or... Shonnonville.. a hour or 2 east of toronto
There will be many detail on the web for those tracks...
I would want more than just drag track.. M cars are fun taking corners..
I am sure interested.. but the winter is here.. when are you plan to do it?

I would be looking for the Spring, unfortunately these track dates get booked up in the Winter.

To be perfectly honest, I will not be looking at Mosport. I don't have any idea what the driving skill would be like for the participants. Mosport is a fast and dangerous track along the lines of Spa-Francochamps and Nurburgring. Also the number of workers / volunteers we would need would be significant.

Shannonville would be a track that we could consider, it is more technical than Mosport but slower. We could configure Shannonville in 4 different ways, Pro, Nelson, Fabi and Full.....Pro would suit our cars best. If you run a full track day at Shannonville on street tires, you can kiss them goodbye.

Then the other option was just quarter mile / airfield stuff.... Alot less hassle.

If there is significant interest in Mosport or Shannonville, I can direct the members to organizations that run track days at those tracks.

Count me in...a great, flat, safe location is Toronto Motorsports Park. http://www.torontomotorsportspark.com/. I've tested there often and it is a great location for both novices and experienced drivers.

Count me in. I have a friend with an E55, and a couple with Caymans and 911's. It would be interesting to have a track day and compare the cars, which is faster, etc.
