I called my buddy who is a BMW tech back east and he told me regardless I will need a software update to tell the iDrive it is there- doesnt matter if I do the MOST adapter or the Aux jack. BUT from what I'm reading here it seems like with the MOST adapter it's hit or miss whether it works or not, regardless of your software level.

So is it just a crapshoot if it'll work with my iPhone 4? I don't care about charging, I just want some damn music!

Also, does Pandora work with the MOST adapter? I think I heard you just have to open Pandora before plugging it in.

Yes it works just fine, I find that I have to play a song through the idrive first, then play pandora though. I've also noticed that the onscreen display won't show what pandora is playing.

After reading through all 19 pages of this post and searching the internet to make sure this would work for me, I did it.

Called up BMW and got myself the iPod kit ($300 - normally $375 direct from them but I get a discount for my shop)
I found it online as well but for about 300 after shipping so I just went with BMW direct for ease.

For reference my car is a 2006 M5
Had factory disc changer, and the single disc did read MP3 CDs

Was just plug and play, no programming needed. iDrive reads it just fine!
