2007 American Tour for Gustav?

A few weeks ago the idea came up about planning a grand tour of the U.S. for Gustav and his trusty camera.
The purpose of this thread is to get feedback from you members to whether you think this is a feasible idea or not and to hear from members who would be interested in helping host such an adventure. I have been PMing with Gustav regarding this idea. He is very interested in the possibility. But at this point it is only an idea. If there is enough interest on behalf of the members of this board then I will proceed with making it happen.
Here are some sketchy details:
*Grand Tour of America - Travel America in member's M cars.
*Tentative route (with a lot of side detours) to include as many states as possible. (Will attach updated route map soon)
*4 to 5 week tour in July of 2007.
*Gustav would fly to New York (most likely place) where tour would begin and end on the west coast.
*Individual M owners would act as host/travel guide for a 1 to 2 day segment.
*Each host would prepare an itinerary to take Gustav to the best and most notable sites be it national parks, monuments, cities, byways or any points of interest etc.
*At the end of each segment the host would rendezvous with the next host and pass Gustav off to them.
If we could pull this off it would be the most intense 4 weeks of Gustav's life! (I’m guessing about a 10,000 mi trip)
I am posting this on the M5/M6 forums. Please respond with any feedback, questions or suggestions. This of course can only happen if there would be enough volunteers (probably about 25??) strategically located throughout the US. If the interest is here then I'll begin coordinating by asking for volunteers to act as hosts. Give it some thought. Your input please?

This is an awesome idea and I would definitely participate in any way possible. We'd have to make sure he made a few key stops (i.e. the BMW Center in Spartansburg, SC as well as some cool touristy things: Statue of Liberty, Sears Tower, Grand Canyon, etc...)

This would have to be a finely coordinated event to make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be, but I have no doubt that it would be fun and a great experience for Gustav and the M driver!

Please keep me posted!

What an excellent idea! Gus (Gustav)

I would suggest at least a one day handover involving lots of beer and story exchange before the next "host" would continue Gus' journey.

May we call you Gus?

BTW, I am just down the road here in Germany. Maybe we could arrange a European event once you have the "break-in" of your North American Tour. What do you say???

I would be happy to entertain him if he makes it to SF/West Coast though I think there maybe other members who would make better overnight host unless he likes sleeping in a room with a 18 month old who wakes up 1 or 2 a night

I note that the proposed route would include Kansas on Interstate 70. Kansas would love to have Gustav visit our state and its M drivers and fans. There are a number of M5 and other M owners in the state and we would love to share our enthusiasm with him and other M fans. If he's interested I'm sure we can put together a fun and interesting reception for him. Keep us posted on his plans so that we can all work to make it fun for both Gustav and M fans in Kansas

Plans are of course in the rough. We would try to cram in as many sites and place as possible. Like I said, it could be intense.
Keep the input coming!!!!

I can take Gustav to/from the airport in Stockholm. Short ride, but he can't start the trip in a Volvo taxi.

I've been there once. Pictures don't do the GC justice!! It's awesome.

We'll have to be careful not to overdue any night life. We don't want to kill Gustav!
