Based on what you want (ventilated and perforated) ...you will get the "comfort" seats....as matter of fact they are the same look as what I have in my 07 550.....

I personnaly much prefer the M sport seats.....I like the looks of them a lot more....and the harder leather....If you pcik up a 2006 M5/M6 brochure...you will see pictures of the "standard" sport seats...(two rows of stitching..shown on a big picture )...and the multi function M sport seats (allows for the upper back to move forward...shown on a small picture on a different page)...those have only one row of stiching......

In my opinion , the M sport seats have a much sportier look and fit the M5 better ... I ordered the standard M sport seat because I like also the two rows of stiching look better...

I had a Mercedes with ventilated seats (in Texas) and never found them to be efficatious....

When I learned that the ventilated / perforated options give you the comfort seat, I changed my order. I prefer the look of the sportier seat, even though my bum may be a bit warmer than the ventilated bums.

I test drove a car with them and did not like them at all. I found there to be a slight delay, particularly as I cut back and forth through some tight curves. Although, I thought they were a neat feature for the novelty, I was disappointed with the function in the twisties.

Also, the rear DVD headrest system I am installing (Visualogic A-1000) does not fit in the smaller headrests of the comfort seats.

Andrew, what dealer in our area allowed you to test drive an M5?

Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley. To be clear, it was a used '06 with 2400 miles. At the time, he had 2 used ones with about the same mileage. A black on black which was allegedly a trade in for a Ferrari (they are also a Ferrari and Maserati dealership) and a SSII/Black on consignment.

Since I am terrible at waiting, I spend a lot of time on this board and I also am checking Ebay on a regular basis to see if there may be some crazy deal out there. I found the black one and wanted a chance to drive SMG before I chose between SMG and a 6 speed. The salesperson was great and I ended up ordering my '07 from him (with SMG of course) instead of Westchester BMW, where I had been on the list for over a year.

Hey, how long do you have to wait for your M5? I can't believe that there are still fanatics out there who prefer waiting several months (and maybe paying a mark-up) instead of getting on a plane and buying that car out-of-state IMMEDIATELY without delay or paying a mark-up.....That's what I did. BTW, same applies to M6 and M6 convertible...

I hope to be in production this week or next. Hoping on a plane is not an option since I am waiting on a 2007. I was originally waiting for the 6-Speed (see above post). Since I did not become an SMG convert (read: "get to drive an SMG") until late June and slots for the 2007s were opening up within a few weeks, I decided (uncharateristically) to be patient and wait for the '07. Given that the lease on my 7 isn't up until December and the chance to have the '07 vs. the '06 (bugs, resale value, etc.), I have to think it was the right decision, no matter how painful the wait.

I too love the look of the sport seats, but the vented seats are so comfortable. I also had an '07 on order at Dallas BMW and noticed you could get alcantara headliner without full leather.

Yes, that is exactly what I felt. Bringing the car to the twisties the active seats just didn't seem to do it....it is a great item to add to the vehicle, but it was also a bit strange having something "hug" me.
