Trasmission Software Update 5/15/06

I met someone today who said that there was a transmission software update that became available today. Can anyone verify this?

I have my M5 in for service and software upgrade today and asked that if a new version of the SMG software exists, to flash it as well. I'll report after I pick up the car.

Launch Control

This is just speculation, but what if it is an SMG update that completely removes the "not documented in the user manual" feature of launch control from the car altogether? I fear this is what BMWNA is going to do in order to address the issue -- they could take the stance that it's not in the manual, it shouldn't be in the car -- especially seeing as how they recently seem to have updated the manual (the PDF floating around here, if that really is the update) and it STILL doesn't talk about launch control. Hmmm.. what could they be up to?

I'm just worried after hearing ParkerF's story about it not working at all. I just hope he's not the first victim of a launch control removal SMG software update.
USA launch control inop ?

Just my luck! The BMW regional rep. was at the dealership today! They did NOT upgrade ANY of my software! My chief complaint was my CD player running after I shut the car down, and supposedly, they fixed the issue with a setting in the I-Drive menu??!!?? They also told me that my oil level system was working properly, although it will drop suddenly from 1.0 to .4, this is normal???!!!??? As for the SMG software, I was told that no upgrade exists.

Where is that post that details ALL the bug fixes that 21.02 addresses? I have searched, but to no avail.

Thanks!

Trasmission Software Update 5/15/06

I had my M5 serviced today because of a transmission malfunction warning. It turns out that the service technician found an SMG Fault 5101 for the Hydraulic Pressure Sensor and also found a broken ground cable. According to SIB 23 01 96, they needed to upgrade the software and reprogram the car. They updated my car with PROGMAN 21.02.02. I will let you know if I can get another transmission malfunction warning after the software upgrade today.

DrLaw--did the idrive "fix" stop your CD player run-on problem? Doesn't sound likely but since I have this with both the CD and DVD drive thought it was worth asking. Last time in to the dealer they didn't have a fix.

Glad you asked. They did NOT fix the problem yet and I am planning to return to the dealer and firmly ask that they flash the new software this time. Besides, I have sent $550 to AA and I would like to have this done before I send the ECU to them.

I've heard from BMWNA that the software fix for the CD player will not be available until late summer. I had the 21.02.01 installed 4/26 and it did not fix the CD.
