Custom Clear Bra Installed by Premier

I had Premier Mobile Group (from Northern Cal) install a custom clear bra for me last time they were in Southern California. No more rock chips for me on this babyfood-soft BMW paint.

Though there are pre-cut kits available, I had a completely custom kit cut. I wanted more coverage than you get with a kit. They had a 50" roll, which was ALMOST enough to cover the hood without a line, but not quite. I think a 60" roll (not manufactured yet) would easily cover the entire hood.

Here is the hood. You can see how far up the line is (it's faint, but visible. A well installed custom kit tends to have more invisible lines than pre-cut since pre-cut kits are optimized for ease of install, not invisibility):

The front fenders are done too, with complete coverage so there's no line at all.

They rolled the edges around the panels so that they'd be invisible as possible. They also tucked the edges into the cracks when possible. In this case, they removed the vent from the front fender so that they could tuck the edges underneath:

The bra on the front and sides of the hood are tucked underneath. The headlights are completely covered too. The front bumper has complete coverage on the front, and the edges are tucked in wherever possible:

I had all 4 doors done as well. The edges are tucked. The door handles are cut out. They said it was possible to remove the door handles to tuck the film underneath, but it's a pretty big job. As you can see, the top of the handles were covered too:

Here is a tight closeup of the inside edge of one of the doors, you can see how they tuck it around:

They covered the rocker panels too. As you can see, the seams are in as far as they go:

Overall, I'm very happy with it. It's definitely up to the quality of a vehicle of this caliber.

Some #%^$# gave me a door ding a couple days ago. They hit my door hard enough to completely go through the film, but the paint underneath was protected. I need to go get that paintless door ding removal service done.

I can't tell that there is anything there. This is something that hasn't crossed my mind. Considering I live in a place with plenty of long, empty, winding roads I should check this out. How much did the whole thing run you, if you don't mind me asking?

That job is awesome - it's exactly what I want for my car. Now, if I could only find someone in OHIO who can do that type and quality of work!!!

Thanks for the pics and write up.

Wow. That is darn impressive. By the way, do the edges start to fray or collect dust over time? I should have done it when I bought the car.

The prices vary quite a bit depending on what you want done. I think some guy in an Enzo even got his ENTIRE car done. Not too cheap.

From what I've seen, as long as the car is cleaned properly, the edges don't peel up, so there's no dirt collection.

One thing you do want to watch is that you wax in the correct direction when you go across the "line" at the edge of the film.

I'm simply amazed at how easily the soft BMW paint gets rock chips. At the very least, I'd suggest getting that front bumper done.

My mom has this on her MDX. So far it's held up great. It's been on there for a year now.

Looks like they did a great job. I'm seriously thinking about doing the same treatment to my car. Winters in the Pacific Northwest are hard on the BMW paint and, in particular, front bumpers.

By the way, your car is already in Premier's gallery!

Thanks for sharing the pictures NobleM400. May I ask how much did it cost to get the doors done? (pls pm me) On my M5, I got a nice key mark on my rear door and need to get it repainted. It kinda sucks now bc it's no longer factory paint. This is something I never thought about doing to the doors. Thx
