what's charcoal filter?

sorry guys, i know it's a stupid question, but what is it and what's the benefit to remove it ? thanks !!

It is an additional filter found only on US spec cars but not ROW. Many suspect we got it to meet Cali's strict emmissions standards. Supposedly it prevents gases from escaping into the atmosphere through the front air intake.

Benefit of removal... My engine breathed a sigh of relief.. "I can breathe". More oxygen to the engine = more power.
Noticeable change in power and throttle response as well slightly increased engine note.

In my opinion A MUST.
