I hear a ticking noise occasionally and it sounds like it's coming from underneath the shift lever area. Anyone else notice this?

It's the stupid iDrive knob. It clicks when you go over bumps. I have the same issue.
This is a known issue. I've had mine 'fixed' once; it went a whole day before it started again.

Yet ANOTHER reason to do away with iDrive. Just kidding, I know it reduces clutter, etc. etc.

Couldn't resist though.

So I guess there is no point trying to have that problem fixed, right?
I think they tried taking the knob off and reinstalling it. I think the whole I Drive controller needs to be replaced. Ask your service center which they would do for you...

But it sounds like even if they replace the entire iDrive controller, it will start clicking again after a few days. No point to have it replaced if there is a fundamental flaw in the design, and the problem will just resurface again, no?
