What the COG!

I purchased my M5 on Friday from a pervious owner on this board. Drove to Vegas while pulling up to get gas very slowly the COG error came up. I took it to the dealer and they wanted to replace the transmission speed input sensor. This had already been done by the previous owner.

Has anyone out there had this same problem?

Ha, mine did it yesterday finally. I thought I was going to be immune to the SAS issue after having the car for 8 months, but nope...all the faults lit up yesterday. Brought the car in this morning, picking it up in a half hour.

Got the Christmas Tree of warning lights last night while driving away from the house. 3900 miles. March '06 build. I did the "control / alt / delete" reboot but the failures came right back after a few minutes.

Called my SA this morning and suggested the SAS. He agreed and said a recall was just issued. SA already had the part in stock and replaced mine today in an hour.

Should be no harm no foul if that's all there is to it.

And....add me in. XMAS tree lit up and its not even December. 2nd time this happened, first was months ago, restarted car and all went clear. This time that technique did not work. Taking it to the dealer next wk. BMW should issue a recall, given all the board members that experienced this problem, its about time.

Thx again to all on the board as I recall seeing much talk about this topic and didn't freak.

A recall has been issued for this. Check with your dealer.

Happened to me yesterday morning, brought it in today. SA confirmed recall on the SAS. Also HUD went out as well. 9200 miles, and no problems since the Vanos line. Still using a lot of oil, someone here mentioned a oil valve recall, but this is the first I have heard of this.
