Additional Insurance?

Just took my insurance agent out for a ride in the beast. I only have 1500 miles on the car but could not resist putting my foot all the way in it to show him what it could do. Actually, it was the FIRST TIME I had really stuffed the coals to this thing and all I can say is

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!

This car ROCKS!! The look on my insurance mans face was PRICELESS! I've known him since I was 6 years old. Yes, 6. I'm 43 so that should tell you something. His look of shock quickly turned to a giggle as he just shook his head in disbelief. This is a man in his late 70's that had never been over a 100 mph in his life. (I ran him up to about 130.)

He actually said it was one of the high points of his life and that he would never forget it. Just kept thanking me over and over for taking him for the ride. It was really cool.

He said I was going to need extra coverage on the car because he was worried I was going to pull a muscle in my face doing all that grinning while driving this car!! I think he may be right...!!!

Good one. If he hadn't been your friend, he would have upcharged your policy.

I took my father, who is a healthy 88, out for a ride last week. He's the type that tends to worry too much over his children. Out of respect for not wanting to add to his worries, I decided beforehand to not ever let him know what was really under the hood of "my new car". Well as we were casually (45mph) driving about in the country, he started reminiscing, as elderly
folks do, about things he's done in his past and things that he never had a chance to do. And then out of the blue he says "Before it gets to late for me, I'd like to take a ride in a Biplane and feel the rush and the power." And then as if I had no control I exclaimed "you mean like this!!" and I floored it - just a few seconds till I back off of 106mph back down to 45. He looks over and says "oh you kids are something else."
I just smiled to myself. I think I'll get him a biplane ride for his birthday!

You should!! What else would you get him? Our parents spend a great part of their life working to see our dreams come true and we should return the favor when possible.

My Dad is gone (cancer) and my Mom is now 76, retired and on a fixed income. We were out having lunch one day and we drove by her favorite car dealership (Acura) and she said, "Well, I guess now that I'm retired, I'll never have a new car." Raising 5 kids, they never had the money for new ones.

I went right home and started shopping. Less than a month later I had everything arranged. I pulled her into that same dealership and right up front was a brand new Acura TL with a great big red bow on it and balloons that said "World's Greated Mom!". You should have seen her face when I stopped my car right in front of it and told her it was hers! Total shock! Man that was fun!! I've never seen her so flustered. She almost couldn't function!

I've never told anyone where she got the car and made her promise not to tell either. Far as all the rest of my family knows, she just bought it.

Honor your Father and your Mother that your days may be long on the face of the earth...

Very cool. I would bet she was probably happier about the son she raised than the car you gave her. Kudos.
