Advice choosing color & wheels

Hi All

Okay, my new 2006 M5 will be here in April. Here's what I've got:

Sapphire Black
Indy Red Interior
Special ordered the Piano black trim from Germany and local dealer will install.
Eisenman racing exhaust to be installed upon arrive...

Okay, here's the questions.

What about wheels, I'm thinking 21" Breyton Spirits Black with stainless lip:

Anyone put this big a wheel and tire on their M5? I want to black it out but was wondering if anyone has had problems or is there anything I should look out for?

Thank you

Jim

I would look into the wheel weights. The some of the Breytons are REALLY heavy.

Regarding 21", several board members have the Hartage 21" setup and it looks really good. Not too big at all.

If weight is your true enemy then I would suggest Neez wheels.
http://www.eisenhaus.com/neezmono.php
Their wheels are all forged so it gives you more strenght and they even have to true magnesium wheels also.

Since I'm a newbie, will that weight screw up my handling? Any idea as to the weight of the stock rims? Also, eisenhaus didn't have any black 21"...gonna get my exhaust through them though. I'm going to get that number on the stock rims, thank you for bringing up the weight issue, I wouldn't have even considered it.

The issue with wheel weight is that it contributes to "unsprung weight". When you jack up a car, everything that hangs down off the suspension is "unsprung". wheels, tires, suspension pieces, brakes)

Adding weight to the unsprung side of the equation is very noticable, much more so than adding weight to the body of the car. If you add enough weight you can notice a difference in ride, handling, and acceleration.

Depending on the type of driving you do this may or may not be an issue for you, but you should at least keep it in mind.

Hey Japmyers,

Hamann has some really hot black-colored 21" wheels. Here is a pic of them on a Black Sapphire M5:
