E60 Interior vs E39 Interior

I'd go with the old interior design which is more simple and much better looking and alot of people are not buying the new M5 because of the horrible interior styling and that goes same for the 5 series and the 7 series.I hope they fix that problem as soon as possible or I will

The E60 M5 is way better in its interior design. The quality of the materials is better, the seats are far, far more comfortable, the controls work better, the design is cleaner, HUD is useful, iDrive is way better, etc. I can't even think of an area where the E39 is equivalent, never mind better.

I've had both and I'd certainly vote for the E60 - much better in my opinion:

When I first saw the E60 design, both inside and out, I was less than impressed. Time has changed that. Regarding the interior, I find it very pleasing in almost every regard, save for lack of niche space. Ergonomically, it's excellent, particularly around the steering wheel. The seats are very comfortable, though the leather is a bit thin. the full leather option is beautiful, the HUD is essential, and the design is clean.

The E60 M5 design wins hands down. The interior is welcoming, airy and spacious. The controls are laid out perfectly. The quality of the materials is so far above the e39 and contemporary competitors that it is not even close. The seats are the best I have experienced. The gauges are attractive and the night illumination is striking.

Having owned both the E39 and E60 M5 it is not even close as to which interior is nicer. The E60 is much more luxurious, the leather higher quality, the ride quieter.I don't think it is even close!!

I'm surprised there are negative thoughts on the interior. The exterior is understandably subjective, but in my mind, the e60 interior is head over heels better than the e39 (in every way). I got into a e39 the other day (haven't been inside one for some time now) and it appeared very dated looking. The controls, finish, design, etc... I'm not knocking the e39, but when compared to the e60 it should be no question IMHO

Ok, we have on thread about the fact that the e60 m5 should have kept the V8 and now one saying the old interior is better. Tell you what, keep your e39 then...

I agree. While I like the E60's exterior look, I will not argue it because it is so subjective. Furthermore, I don't even care that much because I spend all of my important time on the inside of the car, not the outside.

The E60 interior is brilliant. The E39 M5 was very good for its day (I've owned two of them), but the E60 breaks so much new ground in automotive technology, luxury, features, comfort, sound, etc., that I can't imagine anyone starting a thread with the premise that the E39 is better.

Looking at the pictures, maybe. If you experience it, then E60 is light years ahead. I've been driving E39 M5 for 4+ years, but once tried E60 will never go back. Glad I sold it 5 days before the new one arrived.
