Thanks for the info, that is good to know that if anything is continuing to run that it will shut down in 16 minutes. I now know how mine ran for 55 minutes, I kept tinkering trying to shut it down which probably reset the countdown.

It happened to me once as well. I started the car again and turned it off. After that everything was normal.

Ventilation Runs After ShutDown

The search function really is a wonderful thing. I was about to post something titled "Here's a new one," but find out it is not completely new.

When I got in my car this evening and started it, the ventilation was blowing full blast into the footwells although the main climate controller was set to "off." The car had been idle for approximately 90 minutes. The temperature was in the 70s (low 20s for you Celsius minded folks). I have never used the parked car ventilation and confirmed that it had not been triggered somehow. Cycling the ventilation did no good. Turning the car off had no effect.

BMW Assist was no help, suggesting I call BMWNA Customer Relations, which also was of no help. Fearing that the battery would drain overnight with the ventilation continuing to blow, I called my dealer, whose service department is open until 9 pm. The very helpful service advisor invited me to drive over and arranged for a loaner. Fortunately, the regular technician who works on my car was on duty and immediately hooked it up to diagnostics. The car is there having its computer brain analyzed. I should hear something tomorrow. To kill two birds with one stone, I am having the steering angle sensor recall done tomorrow instead of next week as originally scheduled.

I would appreciate hearing if any of you who had this issue before ever determined the cause or the solution.

There was an acknowleged problem mine happened at the dealer while it was in for service last January. They replaced with a newer part told me it happens on all 5 series. Blower does not shut off.
