Streaky wiper blades

When my M5 was new (Nov), the wipers cleaned the windshield perfectly clean. But in the first month they started to deteriorate, and every time they wiped they left streaks on the windshield.

When I have the VANOS update done a month ago, I had the dealer replace the wiper blades. Once again, every wipe was completely clean. Then in a couple of weeks the streaks came back.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Are there aftermarket wiper blades that are better than the BMW OEM ones?

no aftermarket ones don't last either.. clean yours with rubbing alcohol , it might make it better..

Maybe try putting a coat of polymer like Rejex, Zaino or Klasse on the windshield. Rejex has made mine so slick that hardly anything sticks to it, and almost have no need for wipers.

Windshield wipers suck! I have tried countless brands and styles and none of them are worth recommending. Fact is, they are all ok when new but quickly get hard and dried out and start streaking.

Invent a REAL wiper blade that works and lasts and you'll own a fleet of M5's!! Blows me away we can have 500 hp, 200 mph cars but they can't figure out a way to effectively scrape the rain off the windshield with any consistency.

Rubbing alcohol will only dry them out faster. Best thing is to treat the windshield and make it slicker.

I also use Rejex on my windshields and even though it doesn't make the wiper blades any better, they have much less work to do so they do a good job even though they still SUCK.

Having driven German cars for some 25 years, I've concluded that for some reason, the Germans seem incapable of designing wipers that don't streak. I just have them replaced every time I take the car in for service.
