Question on First to Second Gear

I have only had my new M5 for a week and am getting used to the SMG.What can I do to avoid the slight hesitation I am experiencing going from first to second gear .I am not sure if I should let up my foot from the accelerator or keep it on with constant downforce. What will get me from first to second gear sooner?

What mode are you driving in?? I never let up on the accelerator and I use S3 and S4. Remember there is an actual clutch in there at work, so there is some down time while gears are changed. I actually prefer to use S3, p400 when driving around, I found that to be most comfortable for daily driving.
My wife uses D3 and likes that very much. Hate to say it, but you just have to play around to find which one you like best. When you get thru the 1200 mile and you hit p500 S6 or S5, there ain't no hesitation there at all bro!!!!!

along with what rodman31 said... you may also be shifting to early between 1st and 2nd - its smoothest between 2.8k - 4k I find. Do you see the gear number blinking in the dash between the change? if so, then you are definatly short shifting...
Things also seem to smoothen out after the 1200mi break-in period.

hope that helps.
cheers!

I appreciate the feedback.I am in S4 400 .I only have about 90 miles on the car.I am using the HUD as my guide when shifting.I have not seen the lights blinking to indicate that I am shifting too soon.I will try to not let up on the gas and just accelerate straight through.I cannot wait for the break in period to end!
