Went to Spago's for dinner last week and handed the car to the valet.
When they pulled it up after dinner. I walked over the drivers door as the valet guy steped out. I noticed the car slowly rolled backwards toward the S500 behind my car. I pushed the valet guy aside, jumped in the drivers seat and pressed the brakes. It came within a couple of inches of the S500.
Turns out the valet did'nt pulled e-brake thinking it was in PARK.
I always worry when I hand my keys to the valet, but in the M5 it's unthinkable.

When I gave my car to valet one time for dinner I forgot to leave the key in the car (thanks to comfort access). When I wanted to pick it back up after dinner he came running back to me and said that my car doesn't start. I panicked and then I realized that the key was still in my pocket.

YIKES!! I actually caught myself getting out once without setting the hand brake. luckily the car started rolling before I got out and I set it right away. Last time that will ever happen! I still haven't gotten to the point where I can hand the keys over to a valet yet - I have too much separation anxiety and can't enjoy a dinner thinking about what may be happening to my car. Pathetic, isn't it?
I always park my cars myself... period.
If they have an issue with it, I have them sit shotgun and ride w/ me, but they're not driving.
As confusing as the M5 is, this is a no-brainer now.
You guys have no sense of adventure, drama and humor. I've given the car to a valet several times just to watch them try to figure out how it works. It really is fun, especially with a friend or wife, to watch them try various things, call for help, etc. I figure there's little risk since they only drive it a few feet to the spot up front.
How about getting it washed in a car wash? I have had lots of instances with them not being able to drive off and having to shutoff the line with my 745Li.

I've witnessed the Tony's valets hammer down Richmond (towards Edloe) many-a-time.
Self-parked my old 540 @ Mark's only to discover key marks on both front fenders the following day. (Flanking vehicles were parked extremely close - making a walk-around impossible).

My M5 will only get hand wash!!
Words of caution.....Do not trust these so called 'hand car wash' places in houston, especially if your car is Black.
I brought mine to a place called Aqua handwash on Westheimer and after the wash, I have to spend another $200 so a Paint & Bodyshop guy can buff out all of the hairline scratches from improper wipes and cleaning towels!
