VANOS Line blew...got E90 330i for loaner

Vanos Line blew...I noticed my garage had a small puddle of oil so I knew right away what the problem was, no biggie just drove to the dealer. The kicker was that they told me they didn't know when I would get my car back due to BMW taking forever delivering these lines. They put me in a 330i and I was on my way.

Too bad this car didn't have Sport Package with the 18s and it was automatic.

I must admit, this car is really fun to drive. Next to my M5, I haven't had this much fun driving in a while. This car drives like a go cart. I'm actually considering getting a 330xi with SP and manual if avail for the winter/rain days as an alternative car.

Sux to have the M5 in for a couple of weeks (I was told this was a good possibility) but the 330i is actually going to hold me over with no fuss from me.

PS. I actually think the fit and finish of the E90 is better than the E60's.

My e36 is in the shop for an oil pan gasket and I too got a e90 330i. I absolutely love it. Its been my first experience with the adaptive headlights... man they are really cool!

Re: VANOS Line blew...got E90 330i for loaner

I got an E30 330 for a loaner when my M5 was in for its 1200 mile service, and unlike another post here, I actually liked the E90 quite a bit relative to the E46. I think the 3-series made signficant progress with the E90 and I look forward to the new M3s.

Does "Nova" refer to "Nova Scotia?"

I specifically requested an E90 loaner a few months back (they normally provide E60 or X3) just to check it out, and I liked it a lot.

I guess I was the only one that hated it. The car handled horrible at high speeds. And it felt like a nissan altima or something like that IMO. I didn't get a BMW feeling out of it at all.

Re: VANOS Line blew...got E90 330i for loaner

I, too, had a 330i as a loaner when I had my M5 in for service. I was pleasantly surprised too. The car handled great and left a lot "lighter" than the M3. Much more like my old E46 M3 than the M5!

I think the new 3 is a great car-it is just being overshadowed by the whole styling controversy.

Re: VANOS Line blew...got E90 330i for loaner

I love the E90.

My buddy has a 325i Sport, manual, no active steer and it is delicious to drive. It steers better, has better body control, is more buttoned down, is more lithe, more agile and overall a better handler than the E39 M5.

The E90 M3 will be an absolute cracker.

I too got one as a loaner. An absolute blast to drive. I agree - the E90 M3 is going to be a stud.
