I have ordered M5 but I am Worried

      Hi all,

I have ordered my M5 SilverStoneII/SilverStoneII FULL OPTIONS. The car will be manufactered in March and will arrive to Saudi early May as MY07.

BUT I AM WORRIED considering the followings:

      1. VANOS & Oil leakage
      2. HUD latency
      3. Transmision failuler

Did I do a right choise? Please advise.

How does a March production become a MY07? I understand that's BMw's mid year refresh point, but am curious why the MY would change.

This is what local BMW dealer advised with. But what do you mean by refresh point? do not say FACELIFT

      1. Is now fixed on the production cars I assume?
      2. Is it really a lag? No, its just laid out different from th ordinary rev counter.
      3. Softwar gliutch if you are not unlucky.

No, not facelift. BMW typically introduces updates (TPM, soft close doors, for this year, for example) with March production.

Re: I have ordered M5 but I am Worried

Get over it...it is simply the best and some of the stories on this site may scare anyone but in the end their is simply no better high performance sport sedan!! The M5 is the best but their are issues with any sophisticated piece of equipment. It is how you deal with it.

I was miserable whit my New M5 when it was grounded at Irvine BMW for 12 days waiting for a new Vanos line but looking back it was simply a defective hose and I was on the front side of the vanos fiasco. BMW jumped all over it and those situations are being handled quickly and parts are now readily available.

The HUD I really can't comment on but the SMG is simply the best!! I got the failure warning during the first 5 miles of delivery at 10 PM and my dealer was just closing and then a few other times...there was nothing wrong with the transmission and there is most likely nothing wrong with many who think there is a problem. It is a delivery software issue for US cars and a minor computer software setting that many dealers are just now learing of how to fix. Many say that it was to scare the drivers at the port to handling the cars and was supposed to be corrected by the delivering dealer.

Buy the M5 it is the best in so many ways!! I have had many of the best sports cars in the world but none better in every catagory than my new M5.

      Best of luck...

      Jerry

You really don't have much to worry about. 1 and 3 will probably be fixed by the time your car is manufactured. 2 is not a problem, just a different scale on the HUD tach vs the dash tach - actually it is very helpful.

Even with the above problems, the car is more than worth it!!

Echoing the other comments, #1 will be a non-issue by the time you get your car. #2 is a non-issue period. And don't spend your time worrying about #3, which is not a common problem. If you have any doubts, read this article and GET EXCITED!!!
