Hello,
Where does this stand today? Please make a list of action items so I know what I need to do to help. Who do I email? Let's get working on this!!!
It is my understanding that the reason USA cars don't get the euro-spec LC is because we get the 50k free service.maintenance which includes clutch replacement...so, if we got the euro-spec LC, BMW would be spending too much money replacing clutches. FYI, the ROW does not get free 50k service...would you want the euro-spec LC and give up the 50k free service/maintenance? Not me..

True. I would likely only use the LC once or twice anyways, as i don't care to smoke AMG Mercs and V-series caddys all day. OTOH, if a clutch goes bad, I don't even want to know how much that will cost to replace

Since when does BMW replace worn (as opposed to defective) clutches. They didn't with the E39 M5. This is a bogus argument that will be proven so with the upcoming manual transmission when its owners start burning up clutches, assuming the E60 M5 clutch isn't WAY more substantial than the one on the E39.

If you wear out the clutch with LC or otherwise, you should replace it at your cost. This is an individual choice about how often/if to use it.

FYI, dealers in the Atlanta area replaced cluthes under warranty on e39 M5s like crazy...including mine...if you will read the 50k service and maintenance contract that came with your e60 M5 you will note that the clutch is included for wear and tear as well as under the warranty if defective.
I agree with ParkerF. BMW has, and still does cover clutch wear. If there are obvious signs of abuse, or if you come in every 5K miles wanting a new clutch it won't happen. Under reasonable circumstances however, BMW's warranty covers the clutch.
E39 clutch repair with labor is between 1500-2K to my knowledge. I also can shift and have not needed a new clutch on my 03 E39 that has 54K on the odo
